When to renew your emirates ID?

You have a limit of 30 days before the expiry date of your emirates ID to apply for renewal. If you don’t apply for the renewal within 30 days before expiry, a fine of 20 AED per day will be imposed on you. 

Steps to renew emirates ID

Here are the simple steps that you can follow to renew your emirates ID.

1- Create your UAE Pass account

The world is now shifting towards smart online systems. And so is the UAE government. Create your UAE Pass account, you will easily log in to any of the government’s portals. A single UAE pass account will end the need for having multiple accounts for RTA, online booking for vaccines, etc.

The alternative to this account is creating an ICA account on the government website. You will need your emirates ID and a registered mobile number for creating your ICA account.

2- Log in to your online portal

Once you make an account, it’s time to log in and proceed with the application process. Use either the ICA website to log in or you can go with the option of the mobile application “ICA UAE”.

Enter the required identity information to log in. Once you are done with the login, the dashboard will become accessible to you.

3- Choose the service you want-(Emirates ID renewal)

Find the category of Emirates ID on the webpage and choose the renewal option under this category. This renewal option will work for you as well as for your family members and the workers you have under your sponsorship.

4- It’s time to gather and upload the documents

Move on to the next step which is to upload the documents. Following are the documents that you will be asked to upload. Make sure to gather them before starting your application process.

  • Applicant’s colored photograph
  • The scanned front and back sides of your passport
  • Copy of your residence visa
  • Scanned front and back sides of your old emirates ID

5- Enter the details about receiving your Emirates ID

You will be asked about the way you want to receive your new emirates ID. You can choose one of the two following options available.

  • Enter the address of your office or home if you wish to get it delivered to your place. However, you will have to pay the delivery cost for it.
  • The second option is to collect your ID from the nearest Emirates post office.  

6- Pay the charges

After entering all the details, you will need to make the online payment. Emirates ID has a direct link with your visa. Therefore, the charges will also depend on your visa duration. 

  • If you have a two-year visa, the card issuance charges for you will be Dh 200 along with the service fees of Dh 40.
  • If you are a golden visa holder, the issuance cost for Emirates ID will be Dh 1000 for you. You will also have to pay the service fee of Dh 40.

7- Receive the soft copy in your email box

Complete the process, submit your application, and wait for its approval. The approval will take a few hours. You can access the digital copy of your new emirates ID after the approval of your application.

8- Collect the hard copy after you get the notification

After the approval of your application, the soft copy of your card will be sent for printing. You will receive a notification via email or SMS once your card is ready to collect. Go and collect your card.
