With its sleek looks, a stunning teardrop notch and maximum screen to body ratio, Oppo F9 is a treat for phone enthusiasts and especially budget-friendly phone enthusiasts. The phone has many features in both design and software that high-end smartphone manufacturers include in their flagship phones. To find out the detailed review of Oppo F9, keep reading.
Battery and Performance:
Oppo F9 comes with a battery of 3500 mAh, nothing too outstanding but it is in line with the rest of the features and would last for quite a bit. Oppo did make some cuts though, and one such cut is the charging port. The Oppo F9 has a MicroUSB charging port instead of a USB type C. This is an understandable compromise as Oppo has held strong on the rest of the phone features. The storage is also expandable, with a microSD card slot provided in the phone. The phone comes powered with a 4GB RAM and 64 GB storage. The processor being used is MediaTek Helio P60 octa-core processor, most recently used in RealMe 1 and the Nokia 5.1 plus; both of which are quite heavy on the pocket as compared to the Oppo F9.
Body and Display:
Oppo has done a brilliant job in terms of the display and increasing the screen to body ratio, the phone looks stunning and if the preference is minimum bezels and no moving parts like the motorized selfie cameras we’ve all been seeing, then Oppo F9 is the phone to go for. Oppo has smartly hidden the proximity sensors to the right of the notch and though this is great for the display outlook, third party screen protectors would not be the right choice to use as they can potentially block the sensor.
The phone comes with a protector applied by the company and is shipped to the customer that way. The body of the phone is plastic. Though glass gives a premium feel, glass is glass and is much more susceptible to breaking and damage at the end of the day than any other material. A lot of people still prefer phones with a plastic back as they are indefinitely more resistant to breakage as compared to glass. Oppo also chose to keep the headphone jack, a very smart move as most people buying a budget phone prefer headphone jacks instead of ear pods. Apple received quite some flak when it removed the headphone jack and it continues to despite it being a high budget phone, hence there is general regard for the headphone jack among all phone users.
Oppo phones have gained a reputation for brilliant photos and the Oppo F9 delivers on that front too. There is a dual-camera unit that is placed horizontally, much like how we have witnessed on the Samsung S10.
Yay or Nay:
Oppo F9 is a really affordable phone that has a number of great software and hardware features packed into it. The camera module, processor, battery, and storage are all pretty decent.
