The Galaxy A20 we are discussing overlap today or are in the middle of these two M20 variants. Since this is an A-series phone, you will get a relatively better design, fast charging, AMOLED screen, and the new One UI software. These are distinct advantages that cannot be taken away. But are these advantages enough to cover up products like Realme 3 Pro and the much sought after Redmi Note 7 Pr...o, which offer faster processors?

Build and Design
The Samsung Galaxy A20 has the standard 2019 A-series design. It has a beautiful 3D “glass” back cover (this is a more bizarre way to put back the glass-coated polycarbonate), the much-appreciated USB Type-C port, and it feels very sturdy. It is entirely similar to the Galaxy A30, except that Samsung uses an AMOLED panel with a V-notch (compared to the Infinity-U on the A30, which is a small change).

But all these are just details. No matter what the design label says (glass, 3D, curved, round, etc.), we all know when we see good design. The Galaxy A20 is smooth and sexy, and it is very comfortable to hold and operate. Our red review team has generated polarized opinions, but we like it a bit. Our only complaint is that the fingerprint sensor is too close to the top.

Display
Samsung has equipped this affordable phone with an AMOLED screen, but the problem here is that the resolution is only HD + (this is an OLED screen, so it is more worthy of attention). This is one thing we are worried about being reviewed, but using the phone first hand gives us comfort.
AMOLED panels have excellent contrast, close to neutral white, and can choose between 4 colors presets (basically our personal favorite). The screen is not clear enough, but the eyes are bright, well-calibrated, and look great.

Performance and software
Samsung is using peculiar nomenclature for its Exynos chips. Exynos 7904 (Galaxy M20, M30, A30) is weaker than Galaxy 7885, but its performance is still better than Exynos 7884, which powers Galaxy A20.
The phone has a 3GB RAM and 32GB local storage. You can use a dedicated card slot to add additional microSD storage. To make a long story short, the Galaxy A20 is intended for fundamental users. The effect is not fast, but we did not encounter any difficulties in daily use. You can play casual games, but hardcore games don't run smoothly.

On the other hand, software is the main advantage. Samsung's new One UI is excellent and easy to navigate or get used to. We are fascinated by the redesign and beautiful animations, and the UI is well optimized. Like all recently released Samsung phones, the Galaxy A20 supports high-definition streaming on Amazon Prime and Netflix.
The fingerprint sensor can detect and refer to your finger fast, but it takes an extra second (or less than a second) to wake up the screen. Face unlock is quite quickly, but not agile. As for the call quality, we didn't encounter any problems with the call. It supports dual 4G VoLTE, but the Galaxy A20 does not support dual-band Wi-Fi.

Camera
Considering the price, the camera performance is excellent. The phone has a 13MP rear camera and an auxiliary 5MP wide-angle camera. The images clicked in the appropriate light (indoor and outdoor) have thoughtful details and full dynamic colors without being outdated. The Galaxy A20 can quickly lock focus outdoors but not indoors. The camera will blur the metering in challenging to capture photos or with a light source in the background. It is mainly a software-driven portrait mode (real-time focus) that works only when the camera detects nearby faces, so it feels a bit inadequate. In the case of insufficient light, the details will be hit, and visible noise will appear, but the camera software is good enough to take a good picture.

Battery
The Galaxy A20 has a 4000mAh battery and supports fast charging. The battery range is excellent, and in most cases, we can easily last more than a day.

A quick charger is bundled in the box. If you don't know, Samsung will be a little curious about fast charging on your phone. Even for flagship products such as Galaxy Note 9 and Galaxy S10, the adaptive fast charging function can reach 15W. Therefore, yes, the speed of fast charging is moderate, but it is still an advantage at this price point. It takes less than two hours to charge the battery to 35% full charge in the first 30 minutes.
