FH Campus Wien is divided into the university management, departments running the various degree programs and central organizational units (faculties and specialist areas). Subsidiary companies have also been established in the research and development, training, infrastructure and restaurant areas.
The course-providing body of the FH Campus Wien is organised as a registered association. ...A university council has been set up for the implementation and organisation of the teaching and examinations the head of which is the rector.
The works council represents the interests of the workforce and the individual employees in relation to the management. It advises, steers, communicates and acts as a mediator. The members of the works council consider discretion and confidentiality about the employees’ details to be not only their responsibility but is also a requirement. The legal foundations of the works council’s activities are ruled by the Labour Constitution Act.
In the city and yet surrounded by nature, the FH Campus Wien main campus located on "Altes Landgut" in Vienna"s 10th district scores highly with its ideal location. Just 20 minutes from Stephansplatz, FH Campus Wien is easily accessible via public transport: U1 subway station "Reumannplatz", the tram line 67 or the bus line 15 A from the U4 subway station "Meidling" (both stop at "Altes Landgut").
The very good links to public transport and accessibility by car via the "Verteilerkreis" connects urban location with nature. On the one side of the FH Campus Wien building you will find the Laaer Woods, which invites you to relax with the Bohemian Prater and the Laaerbergbad swimming pool. On the other side of the FH Campus Wien building the view extends to the Schneeberg, which the students can enjoy from the terrace.
With approximately 5,000 students, FH Campus Wien is one of the largest universities of applied sciences in Austria. The rapid growth of the university, which has only existed in its present form since 2001, made a new main building necessary. The new building was opened in 2009.
The programs offered at the main campus consist of the Departments of Applied Life Sciences, Building and Design, Engineering, Health, Public Sector and Social Work. The programs of the Department Applied Life Sciences are still at their locations at the Campus Vienna Biocenter and the BOKU in Muthgasse where they are strongly networked with biotech companies and research institutes.
Our aim is to provide students with a professional environment in which they can study successfully. Student-centered teaching and learning is thus a particular priority of the university, and one which we are continually striving to enhance. In the process, lecturers and students alike take responsibility for committing to the process of teaching and learning.
Shifting from a theory-based to a practice-oriented teaching approach calls for innovative teaching and learning cultures that encourage students to work autonomously, place problems in perspective and focus on application.
The UAS Studies Act applies to the Universities of Applied Sciences sector. According to these laws, the FH Council is the authority responsible for the accreditation – approval - of FH-degree programmes. In particular, it issues guidelines for the accreditation (approval) of FH-degree programmes and approves - in the best case - after close scrutiny, an FH-degree programme with an official notification. This guarantees the quality of the educational provision vis-á-vis the students, the financial backers, the economy and society.
FH Campus Wien is one of the largest universities of applied sciences in Austria. In the academic year 2016/17, students can choose from more than 60 bachelor"s and master"s degree programs and master courses in the departments of Applied Life Sciences, Building and Design, Health, Public Sector, Social Work and Engineering. FH Campus Wien works closely with a number of universities including University of Vienna, Medical University of Vienna, BOKU, VetMed, Vienna University of Technology and University of Leoben. The therapeutic and diagnostic degree programs in Health, including the training program for midwives, are offered in cooperation with the Vienna Hospital Association (KAV). Public Management was developed in cooperation with the Federal Chancellery, and Tax Management with the Federal Ministry of Finance. Numerous R & D projects in the degree programs and external contract research are conducted through our own research societies. FH Campus Wien works closely with a strong network of companies, associations, schools and public facilities. In addition, recognized certifications are proof of FH Campus Wien"s high standards in quality management.
