Even though AP University College is very young, its schools of arts have a long history: the Royal Conservatoire Antwerp was founded in 1898, and the Royal Academy of Fine arts is 350 years old.

The Royal Academy of Fine Arts Antwerp provides the challenging environment for the soon-to-be designer or artist who wants a very individual and personal artistic education.
The Antwerp Academy can look back on a rich historical tradition which brings us back to 1663. As the world’s fourth oldest academy, it has an international reputation of 350 years.

The Royal Academy of Fine Arts Antwerp offers a bachelor and master programme in Visual Arts with different courses going from the Fine arts (Sculpture, Painting, Printmaking, In situ³) and Photography, to the more design oriented courses Graphic design, Jewellery Design and Gold- and Silversmithing, Fashion and Costume design. Supported by theoretical courses, drawing and observation our students work in all these courses towards the development of a personal artistic practice.
The Royal Conservatoire of Antwerp aims to educate enthusiastic and talented people to become creative, professional musicians and performing artists with great autonomy and personality, able to slot into the contemporary socio-cultural and artistic frame of reference.
The Royal Conservatoire of Antwerp offers opportunities for extensive artistic cross-pollination, as courses in the three performing arts, as well as teacher training, are all grouped on the International Arts Campus deSingel. The Artesis Plantijn Hogeschool Antwerpen (AP) offers professional bachelor degree programmes in four departments and art (bachelor and master) programmes in two Schools of Arts.
AP combines the competences of Artesis and Plantijn, who have gained experience in student and staff mobility, participation in and organisation of Intensive Programmes, Leonardo Projects and Interreg projects.
The university college focuses on social and cultural development and lifelong learning through offering a wide range of professional and artistic programmes with an international dimension. AP sees internationalisation as a means of innovation and value creation in society, which makes a valuable contribution to the realisation of the European knowledge economy. AP aims for every student & staff member to carry out the international mission of the university college. AP aims at enhancing the global, social, cultural and economic development of the Antwerp region.
