Kodolányi János University of Applied Sciences (KJU) has been operating since 1992. In the beginning there were only 147 students sitting behind the desks on a single campus; today we educate more than 4,000 students in the areas of business administration, communication, tourism, linguistics, humanities, applied social studies, international relations, performance arts, and continuing educat...ion. Our university college operates in five different locations throughout the country (including the capital city, Budapest), with an additional campus in Austria. We employ more than 200 highly qualified faculty members making KJU the largest non-governmental, non-profit institution of higher education in Hungary.
During the last several years we have developed more than 260 partnerships with institutions in 36 countries worldwide. We participate in student-, faculty- and trainee- exchange programmes, and international R&D projects. Within the framework of our International Campus Programme, we welcome international students for full-time, part-time and E-learning studies, organise lifelong training courses, summer university courses and launch academic programmes abroad. Several bachelor"s degree programmes offered in English, German and Hungarian languages provide sound knowledge, competitive skills and competencies that can serve as a basis for a successful career.
Our mission is to contribute to the efforts to strengthen the European competitive higher education system and the international integration of Hungarian higher education. Kodolanyi Janos University of Applied Sciences (KJU) is a state accredited foundation university offering, academic programs in the fields of tourism & hospitality, business management, mass media & communication, social sciences, history, cultural and language studies. Besides the academic programs KJU also offers a wide range of post secondary, LLP courses for trainers and trainees as well as international semesters, summer courses, study tours and internship programs. The educational standard at KJU is excellent. The highly-qualified faculty are experts in their fields of specialisation.
Over the years KJU has succeeded in retaining its position vis-a`-vis state and other private institutions, moreover, it has been able to increase its advantage in some respects. It is a basic tenet of KJU that quality is essential for the successful development of academic study, and its quality assurance system has to be extended to all its services. In 2005, during the conversion for the education system based on three cycles (Bologna), KJU received the support of the Hungarian Accreditation Committee (the top-most Hungarian higher educational quality assurance board) for all its former programmes, a unique accomplishment in the national higher education system. KJU aims at becoming an internationally recognised university that trains citizens to be responsive to the challenges and opportunities of the rapidly changing global society, an institution known and respected for its adherence to global standards.
In Hungary KJU has pioneered development of e-based training at all levels conforming to EU standards supported with specialist applied research. All programmes capitalize on the professional knowledge of qualified faculty and professional trainers as well as guest lecturers from the industry and international partners.
KJU operates according to the basic principles of quality assurance of the Hungarian Accreditation Committee that monitors the quality of education in Hungarian higher education institutions. Our quality assurance system is based on the EFQM Excellence Model: the standard of management, teaching and academic services is checked yearly through strict monitoring.
