Gunma Prefectural College of Health Sciences opened in April 2005 through a reorganization of the Gunma Prefectural Medical Junior College with high hopes that it would “achieve the dream of a healthy lifestyle” for the residents of Gunma Prefecture. The school aims to foster nurses, public health nurses, and radiology technicians who will serve as health and medical care professionals capa...ble of contributing to maintaining and improving the health levels of the residents of Gunma Prefecture and the people who live in various different regions over the course of their lives. As such, it established graduate school master’s courses in April 2009.
The College of Health Sciences cultivates health and medical care professionals furnished with well-rounded characters and advanced knowledge and skills who respect human dignity, consider health and medical care from various different aspects, and can make decisions and act on them independently. In addition, it also contributes to further improving the health, medical care, and welfare environments for prefectural residents by having the research results contribute to the local community.
Gunma Prefectural College of Health Sciences fosters nursing personnel and radiology technicians as health and medical care professionals who strive to provide medical practices that are grounded in scientific evidence based on advanced, systematized, and specialized knowledge and techniques while preserving the human dignity of the patients, as well as work to always achieve optimal health conditions. It also produces research results that can be used in the future not only within Gunma Prefecture, but also internationally. What is more, the college takes part in the creation, development, and dissemination of evidence-based practice (EBP) of the highest caliber within Japan, and lays a foundation of human resources who can newly contribute to technological innovations in health, medical care, and welfare settings.
The educational objectives of Gunma Prefectural College of Health Sciences is to have its students learn how to contribute to maintaining and raising the level of health of the various people who live in different regions over the course of their lifetimes through the lifestyles and cultures of the residents of Gunma Prefecture, where the college is located.
Through this process it cultivates in them a well-rounded character and has them undertake their individual roles within a changing society and deepen their understanding of and interest in the people who live their own lives while coexisting with nature and fostering a distinctive culture,.
It also instills in them specialized knowledge and skills that are backed by scientific evidence, as well as excellent faculties for logical judgment. The college also lays a foundation for health and medical care professionals who are capable of developing and providing high quality medical practices while constantly preserving the human dignity of their patients.
Our teaching faculty possess both an abundance of practical experience and strong research capabilities. In line with our “next generation-oriented curriculum,” which aims to educate every one of our students so that they are capable of adapting to changes in society, our teaching faculty provide instruction that consolidates a scientific basis for nursing and radiological technology studies so as to support the systematic study of specialized knowledge and skills.
What is more, the school offers specialized foundational courses that underpin scholarship in these respective fields, as well as common courses that cultivate the ability to work together as a team, which is indispensable for the health and medical services that contribute to society as a whole. Thus the school provides an education that is consistent with the real world in which there is no divergence between theory and practice.
Moreover, regarding liberal arts education, the school offers academic foundational education courses with unique individual character and prepares each and every one of our students with the ability to set up plans for taking courses in accordance with their own intellectual pursuits or academic interests as independent scholars.
One goal that we aim for with regard to our college students is that you all have the ability to think and make decisions with a sense of autonomy. Up until yesterday you were pupils who were taught on the basic knowledge for getting by in life, whereas now in college you have become students who will learn on your own. You are students who learn by thinking on your own. It is my heartfelt desire to see you refine your sensibilities and craft a productive student life here with us in Gunma, which is filled with ponds and greenery that are suffused with scenic beauty.
