Miyazaki International College (MIC) was founded to nurture young adults who are equipped with the fundamental academic skills that will enable them to communicate with others with confidence under any circumstances and to tackle the issues with which they are faced. In the Department of comparative Culture of the School of International Liberal Arts you will study international liberal arts in English. In high school you studied basic academic subjects, but here at MIC, you will not simply listen to lectures in more sophisticated versions of these subjects. You will, rather, use English as a means for independently approaching your studies and to develop problem-solving skills. You will not be studying English, but you will learn how to use it by using it first-hand in your classes. The cognitive development that occurs in the process of using English in this way is also an important aspect of your learning in this department. The School of Education’s Department of Childhood Education will equip you with academic knowledge and a broad liberal arts education. The first stage of human development occurs in pre-school and childhood education.
Here at MIC, you will complete a course of study designed to develop young professionals capable of bearing the important role of educator while acquiring a broad liberal arts education. You will also learn how to sing for children to your own accompaniment on the piano and develop English language proficiency. The outcomes of these learning experiences will be carefully monitored through the use of a Learning Portfolio (a learning management record) based on a clear set of evaluation standards that also enable us to enhance the effectiveness of our education.
