Aqaba University of Technology (AUT) was established in response to the visions of His Majesty, Abdullah II,king of Jordan for a comprehensive development in the south of kingdom and Aqaba governorate in particular. The university has responded to the advice of Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority (ASEZA) to investors to establish a private university, so Aqaba University of Technology was the... first private university that has been established in south of the kingdom with an ambitious vision to be a distinguished university attracting students, and a favorite choice for students from Jordan and the region.
AUT is a Jordanian national institution that has been established to serve the kingdom and the region in general and Aqaba in particular. It is one the comprehensive developmental phasessponsored by His majesty Abdullah II king of Jordan in the south of kingdom. AUT’s location atAqaba Special Economic Zone is one of the eye-catching elements, for its location in an area of a higher investment, population and tourism development, compared to the rest of the kingdom"s provinces. The presence of a special authority and its developed arms helps the university and the various investments to continue and progressthrough various incentives and privileges.
AUT has a number of distinguished faculties that are of an interest to the Jordanian and the Arab labor market.The most important of which are the faculties of Pharmacy, Engineering, Administrative and Financial Science Information Technology andthe faculty of Arts and Sciences. The first group of student’s has joined the first semester of this academic year 2015 2016 in five majors: Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Computer sciences, and Software Engineering. The second group of students in 20162017 academic year joined the following majors: Pharmacy, Civil Engineering and Architecture.
AUT strives to create a rich and comfortable university environment for students from inside and outside Jordan to give them opportunities for learning, creativity, and leadership. The university also cares about the four types of learning to create a balanced personality for students, including: learning knowledge, learning the practical and applied skills necessary for students to succeed in theircareers, and learn the skills of dealing with others such as team work skills, voluntary work, and the ethics of accepting others and respecting democracy, learning self-development skills, such as continuous learning skills, self-improvement, positivity, hard-working and discipline.
AUT also opens its doors to serve the local community, hosting seminars, lectures, meetings, andactivitiesfor serving the community. It also encourages research and studies that aim at serving and addressing local problems and issues. It is also interested in developing study and training programs to serve local needs. The university seeks to make partnerships and work plans with the local community to cooperate in these issues and focuses on voluntary work for young people to promote the values of the true citizenship and developing their skills.
AUT is the first private university in the south of Jordan with an ambitious vision to be a distinguished university that catches the eyes of students and a favorite choice for students from Jordan and the region. The university is situated about fifteen kilometers to the south of the city of Aqaba on the hills, overlooking the Gulf of Aqaba on a huge land of five hundred Km2.The university received the first group of students in the first semester of the academic year of 20152016 in the Faculty of Administrative and Financial Sciences and the Faculty of Information Technology. The university is working continuously under the guidance of its Board of Trustees which is headed by Dr. Abd al Salam AlMajali to develop new specialties to meet the job requirements in the region that catch the eye of students from Jordan and the region. AUT plans to develop a number of specialties for the first semester of the academic year 20162017 is including Pharmacy, Civil Engineering, and Architecture, in addition to other specialties in the near future including Medicine, Interior Design, and Graphic Design.
AUT is committed to providing its students with a high quality educational and learning experiences, by submitting a variety of academic and professional programs to promote the personal, social, academic, and professional development for students, in addition to the contribution in the cultural, social, and economic development for the community, in a way which meets the requirements of the developmental plans for Aqaba region and the neighboring areas.
Aqaba University of Technology (AUT) is taking care of students from outside Aqaba City. For this reason, it has established accommodations for male and female students. The male students’ accommodation capacity is 328 students. It contains spacious rooms with sea view within the university. For the female accommodation, it has a capacity of 264 students and contains spacious rooms in a safe area for female students inside the university campus.
AUT library is located in the floor of the main educational building of the university. It is a large library of about 1200 m2. In the middle, there are glass facades in front of a garden that has natural lighting. The library accommodate up to 350 students at one time. The library’s contents include 29000 pieces of books, periodicals, references, and encyclopedias. Work is in progress to widen the library in order to support new fields in the university. Natural and human sciences, IT, administrative and financial sciences, engineering, and pharmacology references are recently provided in the library.
