Founded by two distinguished Mexicans: Don Rodolfo Sandoval Álvarez and Dr. José Sierra Flores; who inspired by innovative ideas in higher education, decided to install a University committed to the training of professionals with a high level of preparation, critical and ethical values, to contribute to the development and well-being of the community.
The Universidad del Noreste, starte...d his educational work with the careers of the health sciences area. It is also a pioneer in the careers of the area of the biological sciences, both undergraduate and postgraduate. Similarly, it has been in the area of social sciences, the arts and the humanities. This feature distinguishes it until today, to continue offering unique in the area, as studies: Bachelor of international tourism, international trade and customs, the masters in management and logistics port management, educative innovation, medical sciences and the high school with 4 areas of knowledge.
Other highlights are: that the school of Medicine “Dr. José Sierra Flores”, has been credited on three occasions by the Consejo Mexicano para la Acreditación de la Educación Médica (COMAEM), giving its approval to its graduates apply to processes certification for obtaining the license in the exercise of their profession in the United States and Canada.

This fact makes it the only private institution of higher level in the State of Tamaulipas, which has received such a distinction, which ranks it among the best nationally. In recent years, already within the framework of its 40th anniversary, the University began to distance education programs and launched its first doctoral program.
