HAN University of Applied Sciences is one of the 5 largest universities of applied sciences in the Netherlands. HAN offers high-quality, practice-based education to more than 30,000 students. HAN’s centres of expertise provide tailored research to companies and institutions. Internationalisation is an important tool to improve the quality of education and research at HAN. HAN University of Applied Sciences has a clearly identifiable organisational structure. At the heart are the 4 faculties: Faculty of Education, Faculty of Health and Social Studies, Faculty of Business Management and Law, and Faculty of Engineering.
Each faculty is responsible for education, research and advice in its own area of expertise. Each faculty is furthermore divided up into institutes: clusters of education in similar domains. All support functions are clustered in a separate unit, the Services Department, which operates HAN-wide
HAN University of Applied Sciences observes the Code of Conduct for international students in higher education in the Netherlands. HAN also has a Student Charter that informs you about your rights and responsibilities as a student. HAN also has its own Student Charter. It describes what you, as a student, can expect from the institution and what the institution expects from you in return. If you wish to exercise a right (e.g. in an objection and appeal procedure), you may need to consult this document. Only the Dutch version of the Student Charter is legally binding.
HAN is considered to be an excellent academic institution in the Netherlands. It offers its students and employees an attractive and professional environment in which to study and work. Each year Elsevier magazine publishes a ranking of all Dutch universities of applied sciences. HAN consistently scores high in this ranking. Review committees have recently ranked several courses offered at HAN in the top 10 of all Dutch universities of applied sciences. HAN’s Masters courses Control Systems Engineering and Molecular Life Sciences received the highest rating for Masters courses in the Netherlands, according to the ‘Keuzegids Masters 2015’, an annual study guide that provides an independent comparison between courses in higher education in the Netherlands.
