International Maritime College Oman (IMCO) is an institute of Higher Education inviting all individuals interested in a Maritime, Logistics or Process Industries career to apply to the College. The diploma and bachelor programmes offered by IMCO are unique in Oman, as well as the entire GCC region.Those who are currently enrolled at IMCO have made their first steps toward a promising career in ...the Maritime, Port, Shipping, Transport or Process Industries.
IMCO is supported by the STC-Group from Rotterdam, in the Netherlands. The STC-Group has more than 25 years experience providing innovative study environments in which students can learn about the maritime, transport, and oil and gas industries. IMCO brings this dynamic learning environment to the Sultanate of Oman combining experienced educators with hands-on training. This is only one of the reasons why IMCO is able to guarantee high-quality education and training.
Studying at IMCO will give you a wide range of useful skills that can enable you to develop yourself along your career path. The combination of classroom study and practical, hands on, requirements will ensure you are trained to the highest educational standards. The college has a first class campus in Sohar which consists of modern classrooms, lecture theatres, laboratories, workshops, simulator rooms, library and other high standard educational facilities.
Every semester, the college conducts an induction program for new students. The main aim of this program is to welcome these students to the college and give them the necessary information which will help them enjoy a successful academic career at IMCO. They will receive an overview of the college programs, facilities and regulations.

In 2013, IMCO introduced the new Quality Management System (QMS) according to ISO 9001 :2008 Standards and received ISO Certification from the world renowned classification society ClassNK, Japan and RvA, the Netherlands. With this IMCO made history as the first and only Higher Education Institution (HEI) in Oman to have achieved this success by implementing the Quality Management System (QMS) as per the international standards. This accreditation certificate was awarded with specific focus on IMCO’s “Training activities covering Diploma and Bachelor Studies in Marine Engineering; Nautical Studies; Port Shipping and Transport Management; Process Operation Technology as well as various Short Courses”. This ISO 9001:2008 Certification will ensure that IMCO’s Quality Assurance and Processes meet internationally acknowledged and recognized Quality Standards. The new QMS allowed IMCO to standardize and establish its policies and procedures in order to carry out and control all its functions and activities related to both academic and administrative departments.The major quality tools such as Internal Audit; Identifying and Addressing Non-Conformities; Customer Feedback; Management Review - deployed are not only helpful to monitor the processes but also to promote their continual improvement.
The General Foundation Programme (GFP) at IMCO is designed to equip students with English, Study Skills, Maths and IT skills needed to meet the demands of the entry level expected by IMCO academic departments based on the GFP standards provided by the Oman Academic Accreditation Authority (OAAA). The content and delivery of the GFP offered at IMCO are continuously reviewed and redesigned in consultation with the Curriculum Committee.
This program offers a one-year course which includes English, Study Skills, Maths and IT. The curriculum is based on learning outcomes, focusing on study skills, strategies and attributes which IMCO requires students to be able to demonstrate. We see the role of the teacher primarily as a facilitator, guiding the student to gradually move towards an independent learning style. The one-year programme is divided into two semesters. During each semester, there is a range of continuous assessments, as well as a mid-semester and final examination. After completing the Foundation programme, students can enroll in one of the Diploma programs offered at IMCO.
Student activities plays an important role in developing and providing activity programs which develop students’ skills and promotes their participation in serving the community. Through extracurricular activities, students are encouraged to discover and develop their own skills and abilities. The Student Council and other student groups are also channels for student participation in decision making. Student activities supports a variety of interests through different clubs and societies. Students can participate in any of them through the center according to their interests and preferences. It is our heartfelt believe that Sultanate Of Oman, our nourishing nation, deserves a team support from us, all members of IMCO; directors, faculty members, employees and students, in the memorable National day to celebrate the anniversary within IMCO in an environment full of love to the Nation we behold with honor and pride. Out of a desire to celebrate National Day, we hold our festival ceremonies around 18th of November at the campus. We invite you all, both students and staff at IMCO, to participate in the National Day ceremony. The Open Day event provides an effective bridge between IMCO staff and students. It is held once in the academic year. An intensive program of different entertaining events take place during this day such as competitions, lectures, plays, exhibitions and car show.
