Nizwa College of Technology (NCT) is located on the eastern outskirts of Nizwa city, about 12 km from the city centre.The college started in 1993 as “Nizwa Technical and Industrial College”. Before that its premises were built as a vocational training centre, and since that time, the same infrastructure is now in use. The college started with (102) students in its first academic year. The n...umber of academic staff was (22) against (12) administrative staff. The implemented academic program was for two years and teaching was in Arabic. In 1995, the college produced its first batch of graduates.

The Educational Technologies Centre (ETC) is the information and communication technologies hub of the College. As such, the ETC"s mandate is to build and maintain infrastructure that will provide excellent learning resources for students and in the process encourage them to develop their skills. The ETC also continuously upgrades and maintains these resources and ensure their maximum utilization for the benefit of all College stakeholders.
Currently, the ETC is composed of a dynamic team comprising of dedicated and committed IT professionals of various nationalities. The list matches a student"s transfer and in-progress courses against the requirements for a program. It is a tool to assist the student and advisor in monitoring the student"s progress towards a degree. The courses and programs list is an internal document specifically for advising purposes and is not an official document of a student"s academic record.
NCT offers strong and flexible academic system based on credit hours with multi-level qualifications that begin from Foundation Year, Diploma, Advanced Diploma and Bachelor’s Degree. Each level requires specific grade that is required to proceed to higher levels.
This system often challenges students and motivates them to study harder in order to achieve a higher grade that gives them a chance to move to the next level of their studies.NCT offers various courses in Engineering, Business Studies and Information Technology that is designed to meet the national labor market needs of Omani professionals.The management of examinations is handled by the College Examinations Office, which is responsible for the preparation of exam timetables, supervision of examination proper, and advising of students regarding examination related concerns.The office also manages special considerations, variations, and alternative arrangement applications.
The Ministry of Manpower represented by the Directorate General of Technical Education announces that receiving applications for part-time students in technical colleges is now open for applicants. The system is aimed for persons working in public and private sectors who wish to complete their studies.
At NCT, we offer specialized programs for part time students to meet labor market and technological requirements.To be enrolled in such programs, an applicant must submit an application form with all the required documents given by the Registration Department at NCT. Qualified applicants must be given leaves corresponding to their class schedule and timetable.
