Waljat College of Applied Sciences (WCAS) was founded by H.E. Dr. Omar Bin Abdul Muniem Al Zawawi in 2001 with an aim to promote high international quality education in Oman that prepares students for modern, high quality jobs. WCAS functions in academic partnership with Birla Institute of Technology, a reputed deemed university located in Mesra, Ranchi, India.BIT was founded by the Philanthrop...ist and Industrialist, the Late Mr. B.M. Birla in 1955 and since then has been a pioneering institution in the fields of technical education and research.
The WCAS vision is to impart affordable high quality professional education and to become a centre of academic excellence that is a preferred choice of talented students. The WCAS campus is located in Knowledge Oasis Muscat, Rusayl with state-of-the art teaching facilities, laboratories, library and student services. All academic programs are conducted in English and admissions are open to all nationalities.The Department of Biotechnology, Department of Computer Science & Applications, Department of Electronics & Communications Engineering, and Department of Management offer Graduate programs leading to Bachelor of Engineering (BE), Bachelor of Computer Application (BCA), Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) and Post Graduate Programs offering Master of Business Administration (MBA) and Executive MBA (EMBA) Degrees respectively.To provide an opportunity to enhance the qualification and skills of employed individuals, the college offers BBA, BCA Degree Programs and the EMBA Post Graduate Degree Program with evening classes.

The Health Care Facility is the primary medical service provider for all Undergraduate and Postgraduate students enrolled in WCAS as well as the staff and faculty members. The college has a fully equipped clinic managed by a qualified nurse for emergencies.
WCAS Learning Resource Centre (LRC) spread over 10,000 sq. ft. area divided into Reference Section, Book Bank, Study Area, Discussion rooms for students and faculty.The LRC has more than 40,000 books including over 4,000 reference books covering more than 4,300 titles relating to Biotechnology, Chemistry, Computer Science & Engineering, Electric Engineering, Electronics & Communication Engineering, English, Information Technology, Management, Mathematics, Mechanical Engineering, and Physics besides several other subjects. It also provides access to journals in the areas of Biotechnology, Computer Science, Electronics & Communication, and Management through EBSCO.The LRC has fully computerized facility for book management using integrated online software application “Academia”. It provides access to information related to library database and available resources from anywhere in the world through Online Public Access Catalogue (OPAC) with different search options.
Training & Placement Cell provides training opportunities coupled with soft skill enhancements and career counseling, to assist students for job placement. It also provides a platform to potential employer for recruiting suitable candidates across disciplines.All students are supported to undergo various training programs in corporate and industry sector during their semester breaks. Various in house training programs and workshops are organized for competitive skills enhancement, and career counseling is done for helping the student in choosing the right field as per his/her credentials, capabilities, and interest. Group discussions and mock interview exercises are regular activities for all students. The final year students are assisted in direct placement through career fair organized every year in the college campus. Organizations from all sectors are invited to interview our graduating students for a suitable position.BIT, the parent university also organizes campus placements for Engineering students from India at main campus in Ranchi and offers opportunity for graduating students to appear for jobs in many companies of global repute. Students are counseled and encouraged to participate in BIT campus placements.
