LSUAS... is the biggest school of higher education in town and the only one providing full-time programme free of charge. It offers twelve programmes in full-time and part-time modes: Administration (first and second cycle), Management, Automation and Robotics, Computer Science (first and second cycle), Dietetics, English Philology with Information Technology, Physiotherapy, Cosmetology, Nursing (first and second cycle), Physical Education, Food Technology and Human Nutrition, Social Work.
In the prestigious 16th Perspektywy University Ranking, LSUAS" academic potential obtained the highest grade among state vocational schools of higher education in Poland. The significant impact on the quality of education is exerted by our laboratories and technological facilities, which are unique on the national level. Our students acquire practical skills using equipment of the highest industrial standard. The Institute of Food Technology and Gastronomy offers classes with the use of professional equipment to determine physico-chemical composition and to assess microbial quality of food products. The heart of the institute is the process hall with equipment for food and agricultural processing. Also, the labs of the Institute of Computer Science and Automation as well as foreign language labs and rooms are truly equipped for the 21st century. In 2013, the modern LSUAS building won the Internet poll conducted by Sztuka Architektury vortal for the best architectural implementation.
LSUAS is the only state vocational school of higher education in Poland among 36 schools of this type which was granted the scientific category B as a whole by the Committee for Evaluation of Scientific Units. In terms of practice, it means obtaining ministerial funds for statutory research. LSUAS has been enjoying this privilege for 3 years, thanks to which it joined an elite of Polish universities.
LSUAS has obtained the consent of the Minister of Labour and Social Policy for conducting a training for the first degree specialization for social workers. It entails a closer cooperation between the University and social welfare institutions in the area, whose staff can improve their qualifications by studying at LSUAS.
Having our students in mind, we redecorated the dormitory at 16 Wiejska street. The Rubikon Dormitory has seventy seven modern twin rooms, a fitness room, a bar and the access to fast wireless Internet. The investment, which was finished at the end of September and the beginning of October 2015, cost over eleven million zlotys, over nine million of which was obtained from the Ministry of Science and Higher Education.
The University and you will see that it is an incubator for talents. Our graduates easily find their place on the local, regional and national labour market. They are practitioners in Polish economy and a living proof of the mission of our University - WE EDUCATE PRACTITIONERS.
Łomża is a lovely town with over sixty thousand inhabitants, located in the North Mazovia region. Thanks to its environmental and landscape values, it is a part of the Green Lungs of Poland. The Łomża area is also covered by the EU Natura 2000 programme, which means that it is of significant value for environmental values of Europe. Łomża"s location makes it an unforgettable place for its visitors. It overwhelms with a wealth of flora and fauna. The Landscape Park of the River Narew Valley encompasses as many as 16 kilometers of wild nature almost untouched by humans.
Łomża is not only nature but also interesting history, with periods of glory intertwined with failures. Sightseeing lovers can visit the over five hundred years old Cathedral and one of the oldest cemeteries in Poland, as well as the Kurpie Open Air Museum, the second oldest museum of this type in Poland. The lovers of history and militaria will be attracted by the forts constructed by the Russians during their reign in Poland and gladly use the local sports shooting range. The Museum of Nature in Drozdowo and the Landscape Park of the River Narew Valley are a great attraction for those seeking a retreat from daily chores.
The town is also proud of its art galleries, museums and art studios. Plenty of entertaining and cultural events take place here. Nightlife lovers will be certainly satisfied with numerous bars, discos and tiny restaurants with their special atmosphere.
