The pedagogical education and teacher training is an important mission of our university. Moscow Pedagogical State University combines the tradition and modernity which expressed in the foundational pedagogical education and applied features of teaching subjects at the same time. Contemporary theoretical and applied knowledge is the main competitive factor of future teachers. MSPU is the only pedagogical university in Russia which Vladimir Putin, President of the Russian Federation, visited on the first Day of Knowledge of the new century and millennium – September 1, 2001. Our University is one of the oldest Russian Universities and this imposes on us certain obligations concerning the whole system of education in Russia as well as pedagogical universities. Our understanding of University history is connected with the synthesis of traditions and innovations. Our main task deals with maintenance of continuing history of MSPU, development of its glorious traditions and defining the future appearance of our University. Talent, self-sacrifice, loyalty to the professional choice and civil responsibility for the education of younger generation have always distinguished graduates of our University – its honor and fame. It is necessary to harmonize the unity of common culture, axiological, psychological and pedagogical, fundamental and objective and methodical components during the process of preparing future teachers, to train cultured, creative people who are able to react quickly and adequately to the challenges of time. We have to create the pedagogical university of the XXI century.
The University holds scientific conferences, practical seminars, workshops on items on current importance. The professor staff provides support to scientists from abroad, involving them into special research projects, international conferences and seminars. MSPU also helps to publish papers of foreign colleagues in scientific periodicals. MSPU also participates in many projects oriented towards innovative education in different fields, such as modern teaching methods, investigations on contemporary mentalities, economical globalization, IT-technologies in education etc.
The international activities of MSPU are focused on academic and scientific cooperation. However, we pay special attention to supporting international students with their studying and living in Moscow. One of our top priorities for the nearest perspective is to enroll MSPU students in the Mobility Programme supported by European and International Educational Organisations. MSPU established close ties with a number of internationally recognized schools and universities and productively cooperated with its partners in terms of student and faculty staff exchanges, scientific projects, conferences and seminars. We strongly believe in the future of internship programmes as a way of student exchanges, first of all in methods on preschool and school teaching and training organized in MSPU partner-schools of Moscow. Moscow State University of Education is looking forward to prospective ideas in the field of international cooperation and would be delighted to make new partnerships for mutual prosperity.
