The Mission of Volgograd State Technical University is preparation of harmoniously cultured, able to meet competition, and professionally responsible specialists oriented on perspective domestic and world market requirements with basing on the domestic higher school traditions, utilizing innovations in the sphere of science and education, providing for unity of scientific and educational activi...ties. VSTU is the leading regional University, which ranks among the best institutions in the amount of qualified specialists of Volgograd region, the South of Russia and some foreign countries. University obtains a well-developed infrastructure, ensures high professional level and influences forming of social qualities of students for their successful integration in the international economy. According to the strategy of University there was founded a research and education industrial complex (cluster) focused on training of well-qualified specialists for high-tech sectors of economy. Transformations in the sphere of higher education of the Russian Federation were affected and realized in VSTU as a multilevel system of educational programs, modern forms of academic activity organization, quality control, adequate material and technical support. Favorable social environment has been created in a large team of employees and students. Most of them share cultural and ethical values, keep and develop tradition of polytechnic school. VSTU is committed to the principles of the Bologna Declaration.
For realization of the development strategy of Volgograd State Technical University, its administration has specified the following fundamentals of the Quality Policy:

• Establishment of stable mutually beneficial contacts with all parties interested in educational activities, learning and foreseeing their demands, and realizing these demands within educational process;
• Leadership and personal responsibility of administrative workers on all levels, providing for understanding by every worker his/her tasks, functions, powers, and responsibilities;
• Active involvement of lecturers, employees, and trainees in the activities aimed at education quality improvement by means of continuous competence upgrade, motivation rising, support of creative initiative, development of corporate culture;
• Development of scientific schools, support of investigations and creative activities of research workers, educators, and trainees;
• Integration of educational process with scientific researches and works, strengthening of creative connections with scientific institutions, enterprises, and other organizations;
• Conducting of regular self-certification and learning the experience of leading educational institution, as the tools of the university activities perfection;
• Widening of educational services, providing for their accessibility, utilizing new ones, in that number, information educational technologies;
• Perfection of educational process for the purpose of construction of socially active and creative personality of a trainee possessing high professional responsibility, inner-directedness, civil consciousness, high moral principles;
• Informatization of the University, providing for quality improvement of all kind of activities;
• Regular improvement of educational and methodical support, as well as logistical support of the educational process, working and learning conditions of personnel and trainees;
• Social support of the personnel and the trainees, their health and safety protection.

The international activity of Volgograd State Technical University is based on educational and research cooperation with universities and organizations from abroad in accordance with agreements and contracts. The key partners of the University are University of Leuven (Belgium), Leibnitz University of Hannover (Germany), TUBAF (Germany), Université du Maine (France), University of West Bohemia (Czech Republic), Waseda University (Japon), companies “Porta Capena (Belgium), “BBEngineering” (Germany), “Bangalore Integrated System Solutions (P) Ltd” (India), CAMERON (USA). The University chairs actively participate in project contests in programs of Erasmus Mundus, TEMPUS, DAAD, international contests of RFBR, FP7, Wisby, Grant of President of the RF for studying abroad, grants of programs “Fulbrigright” and “Open world” (USA). The implementation of EU “TEMPUS” projects helped to create new educational programs in information technologies, chemical technology, ecology, create a Center of self tuition of English and German languages, and a Center of quality evaluation of educational programs.
Our University pays great attention to fundamental and applied research and to the development of priority areas of science, technology and technological progress, as well as to the output of science-driven products. VSTU has a dynamically developing school of metallurgists, chemists, mechanical engineers, material engineers, welders, instrumentation engineers, as well as high-level developing science, highly-qualified specialists training. Focus on research determines further innovative development of VSTU.
