The Vasyl Stefanyk Precarpathian National University is the first university in the Western Ukraine of classic type. The history of formation and development of the Vasyl Stefanyk Precarpathian National University started in January 1940 when, at the request of local authorities, preparation for the opening of Teachers Institute in Stanislav started. On March 1 the training began. With the proc...lamation of the independence of Ukraine more favorable conditions for the integration of education and research were created. August 26, 1992 Ivano-Frankivsk Pedagogical Institute was reorganized in Vasyl Stefanyk Precarpathian University. At that time the institution has long been in one of the first places in the country thanks to its scientific potential. One of the most significant events of 2004 was the granting the university "National" status.
For a short period of time of its existence university has grown into the leading center of science, culture and education of Prycarpathia. New specialities, faculties and chairs were opened, the staff was filled up with highly skilled scholars.
The University consists of 15 educational institutes and faculties, 36 scientific establishments (research, scientific and educational institutions, centers, laboratories, among them joint research laboratory on tape physics of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine and National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine with the status "national acquisition", botanical garden, dendrological park, scientific library), Ivano-Frankivsk college of the Public Higher Education Institution "Vasyl Stefanyk Precarpatian National University", where young specialists, bachelors, masters are trained, 3 educational centers for dictance communication.
At the university more than 16 thousand students are studying, 135 Doctors of Sciences, Professors, 629 Candidates of Sciences, PhD, Associate Professors are working.
In terms of extension of globalization and integration processes the Vasyl Stefanyk Precarpathian National University has acquired great experience in cooperation with cultural centers in Europe, Asia and the USA in such fields, as: joint research activity, improvement of the scientific process, usage of progressive technology, conduction of conferences, symposiums, scientific and pedagogical personnel training. The university has signed more than 70 agreements on cooperation with foreign higher educational establishments.
The University is undertaking active work towards expanding international relations with higher educational institutions of different countries. At the invitation of the Lithuanian Republic’s honorary consul in Uzhgorod and Zakarpattia oblast Viktor Hrapko the University’s rector Ihor Tsependa took part in meetings with the representatives of Lithuanian university circles in Vilnius. While on the business trip on the second of March the rector held a meeting with the administration of Mykolas Romeris University, whose founder is the Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania (in the photo).
In the course of the conversation the question about signing an agreement on collaboration was discussed. In addition, the matter of developing programs of double diplomas was raised. A special attention was devoted to fulfilling mutual grants within the framework of the program Erasmus+ and other programs of the European Union. The colleagues of Mykolas Romeris University also suggested to the lecturers of the Precarpathian National University that they should take advantage of opportunities of Web of Science and Scopus publications.
The students - biochemists attended a five - day training course in the breeding and using of the laboratory animals. It was run by Biology Research Centre of Warsaw University under the guidance of the Polish Research Society of the Laboratory Animals (PolLASA). 300 students from Ukraine and Poland were the participants of the international course. Vasyl Stefanyk Precarpathian National University was represented by Alina Zayachkivska (III course), Vladyslav Kogut (III course), Oleg Shevchyk, Myroslava Vatashchuk and Natalia Butenko (IV course).
The lecturers of Warsaw Medical University, the Institute of Physiology of the Polish Academy of Sciences conducted the classes. The students had a possibility to learn about the peculiarities of the morphology, anatomy, physiology and pathology of the laboratory animals. They were taught how to fill in the documents about planning and performing experiments on laboratory animals according to the standards of the European Union. The participants of the international courses got their certificates.
Volodymyr Lushchak, the Head of the Department of Biology of Vasyl Stefanyk Precarpathian University informed that the students would be involved in the work of the Ukrainian – German project “The Mechanism of Ageing While Reducing the Calories”.
On the 26th of February the delegation from the Confucius institute of Kyiv National Linguistic University came on a visit to our university. During the meeting Ihor Tsependa, university president, together with the director of the institute Shy Yatsziun, volunteer teachers and the president’s counselor of the National Academy of Arts Valentyn Velychko discussed the prospects of cooperation. The possibility of the university teachers and students being engaged into the work of the International scientific center “Observatoriya” and the gatherings of the young students were considered.
The university president Ihor Tsependa states that the university has been actively working on the enhancing the international ties and is interested in the cooperation with new partners. The director of the Confucius institute got acquainted with the work of the university and expressed his admiration about the methodical provision of teaching the Chinese language.
While attending the classes in Chinese the director presented new educational text editions to our students. The Chinese colleagues also visited the Institute of Arts, the international exhibition of Arts and the sports healing center “Smerichka”.
A working meeting of Ukrainian-Polish experts on the restoration of the Astronomical Observatory on Mount Pip Ivan took place in the village Mykulychyn. The Director of the Eastern European Studies of the University of Warsaw Jan Malitsky, the Rector of Vasyl Stefanyk Precarpathian National University Ihor Tsependa, the Chief of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in Ivano-Frankivsk region Volodymyr Chernetskyi, scientists and experts summarized the work of the previous year and identified the priority areas of work for 2018, which is a jubilee year for the Observatory.
During the previous year, a number of international projects were implemented, due to which a planned reconstruction was carried out and a rescue unit of the State Emergency Service was opened with appropriate conditions for service, a joint Ukrainian-Polish rescue training was held with the following acquisition of special supply and equipment.
In 2018, a number of new projects are planned that will bring enthusiasts closer to the second opening of the Observatory and will increase the safety level of tourists in the mountains. Festive Academy on the occasion of the awarding of diplomas to university graduates took place in the Assembly Hall. More than eight hundred young professionals have received Master’s Degree diplomas, and 224 graduates have gained the honors diplomas. The rector of the university, Professor Ihor Tsependa, wished young colleagues good, inspired work, self-belief and new achievements for the benefit of native land and Ukraine. Graduates thanked to the teaching staff for their hard work, support and understanding.
The Academy was accompanied by a festive concert with the participation of students and graduates of the Institute of Arts. Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, Head of the Department of Professional Education and Innovation Technologies, Oksana Dzhus stressed on the important tasks of the project: an innovative computer class for teachers’ usage of innovative teaching tools to improve the quality of higher pedagogical education.
Teachers during the discussion expressed their desire to participate in the project at the stage of developing methodological recommendations on the use of ICT in the pedagogical process and the implementation of the results in the educational process of secondary schools in the region. Within the framework of the meeting there was a presentation of training modules: organization of the children’s educational environment; integration: thematic and activity approaches; cooperative learning; pedagogy of partnership.
