For more than 40 years, Maharishi University of Management (MUM) has pioneered a new approach to learning, called Consciousness-Based education, which supplies a missing element to education. All students and faculty at MUM practice the Transcendental Meditation (TM) technique. We have a wide range of work-study positions available on campus. If you are interested in applying for a work-study position, please confirm that work-study is part of your financial aid award. Your work-study award amount is also listed in your financial aid award letter. You can review a list of available work-study positions. Newly admitted students will be able to sign up for a work-study position after arriving on campus.
Federal Work-Study is available to U.S. citizens and eligible non-citizens who qualify, based on financial need. The amount of Federal Work-Study that each student qualifies for will be listed on the financial aid award letter. The amount is usually enough for about 4 hours of work a week throughout the academic year, or about $130 per month, which is an award of $1,000 to $1,200.
MUM offers jobs providing opportunities for growth in areas such as administration, community service, arts, sustainable living, recreation and sports, meditation supervision, information systems, digital media, library, bookstore, student activities, and other academic departments such as music and math. Work-study jobs are based on first come, first served availability and therefore are not guaranteed.
Students who have financial aid awards are encouraged to look through the posted jobs either in Henn Mansion or online, and then come to the Human Resource Office in Henn Mansion to obtain the necessary forms before applying for a job.
The student may then contact the departments offering jobs and make an appointment for an interview, and if offered a position, the supervisor signs the top form of the financial aid packet. The student then returns to the Human Resource Office to complete the paperwork and receive a time sheet.
We offer a wide variety of noncredit courses which provide deep knowledge in the areas of health, environment, cooking, spirituality, and more. The noncredit courses are “open-enrollment” meaning that students can register without applying for admission to the university. Many videos are available to watch for free. Enjoy!
Study Abroad programs at MUM mean more than just traveling abroad. They mean capturing real-world experiences that prepare you to become a successful global citizen and professional in the twenty-first century. Our Study Abroad programs bring you to diverse, beautiful lands and open your eyes to unique, precious cultural traditions while you work on real projects with local partners.
We will provide you with a carefully chosen international experiential learning environment, and enable you to be at home with this adventure through the unifying experience and understanding of Consciousness-Based Education under the supervision of our experienced faculty.
Whether you are an undergraduate or graduate student wishing to have an unforgettable learning experience abroad, or an alumni wishing to have a global adventure with your former classmates, our Study Abroad programs have something for you.
US students in standard programs eligible for federal aid will be assisted in obtaining federal aid to attend eligible study-abroad programs. Only $500 of University tuition will be charged when the other institution grants academic credit via approved transcript. University scholarship cannot be used for Study Abroad programs, although students are encouraged to seek scholarship from the school conducting the Study Abroad program.
Students who have been approved for coursework at another institution where transfer credit is not issued via approved transcript from that institution must pay normal University tuition. This includes courses taken away from Fairfield, including Internships, Fieldwork, Thesis, Projects, MVS Special Studies, and other studies, even when the source of coursework is not primarily taught by University faculty.
