The Royer Center provides a variety of help services and instruction in strategies for success at McPherson College. We offer subject tutors in our Tutoring Program, writing tutors in The Writing Center, and instruction in study skills and reading skills, through two courses, ID100 College Learning Skills and ID106 College Reading Skills.
Academic advising at McPherson College is an intentional relationship between advisor and student as they plan and reach the student’s educational, career, and personal goals.
Students at McPherson College have many unique opportunities to experience different cultures and environments through travel courses offered during the January term. They find themselves traveling to New York for theatre, China for philosophy and religion, Italy for art history, or to the Dominican Republic to participate in service projects.
Opportunities to live and study outside the United States are available to McPherson College students. One program students take advantage of is the BCA program. Rooted in the values of peace and justice, BCA promotes international understanding, awareness of global citizenship, and academic scholarship through educational exchanges. The programs are open to all majors.
BCA has collaborated with international institutions of higher education to offer academic programs that educate students to make decisions for peaceful change in a complex and challenging world. The BCA “Peace and Justice” programs are designed to allow students to study with scholars actively seeking solutions to issues affecting the future of people, communities, and nations. Students studying with BCA will be able to deepen their understanding of other cultures and political perspectives while being engaged with current world problems.
BCA offers a series of international seminars for faculty and administrators that will provide educators with an in-depth, intensive understanding of other societies and their political, economical, and cultural perspectives. BCA’s international seminars are meant to contribute to the professional development of faculty and administrators who are concerned with deepening their insights into other societies while contributing to the internationalization of their own institutions.

Chartered in 1887 by leaders of the Church of the Brethren, McPherson College has a distinguished history of providing excellent liberal arts and career-oriented education shaped by the essential values of its founding denomination. The College welcomes students of all cultural, economic and religious backgrounds.
The present campus, with its 16 major buildings and 27-acre setting, has matured into an institution of which its founders would be proud. To celebrate its 100th anniversary in 1987-88, McPherson College architecturally redesigned its entire campus, a factor that has improved the quality of living and learning at McPherson College. In the spring of 2000 state-of-the-art theatre and fine arts facilities were added to the instructional facilities, and Melhorn Science Hall opened its doors for fall 2001 classes.
As a member of the North Central Association, McPherson College is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission. Our teacher education program is certified by the Kansas State Department of Education and the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education. The College holds numerous memberships with other professional agencies and organizations.
