CASA, the Center for Academic Success & Advising, is the epicenter for supporting students in pursuit of their academic goals. CASA support begins when prospective students in the College of Arts & Sciences (CAS) consider their first semester schedule at NNU. CASA works closely with the CAS Admission’s Team and the Registrar’s Office to create schedules for all incoming students enrolling in CAS. From the first day of classes through commencement, CASA offers a full array of academic services including: tutoring, academic coaching, disability support for academics, academic advising for select majors and “deciding” students, and test proctoring services. Academic progress is monitored each semester and the CASA faculty/staff also offers additional assistance for students on academic probation seeking to improve.
Disability Support Services (DSS) for all students at the University are available through CASA. DSS exists to ensure access to the University and its programs by students with disabilities. The office coordinates and provides reasonable accommodations, advocates for an accessible and hospitable learning environment, and promotes self-determination on the part of the individuals served.
Finally, CASA supports the educational mission of NNU by providing high quality testing services in accordance with the National College Testing Association Professional Standards and Guidelines and governmental regulations. The services provided for students, faculty, staff, community members, and business partners will be consistently rendered with an attitude of service that demonstrates value for relationships, personal excellence, diversity, and commitment to lifelong learning.
To say that you"ll have a great time at NNU would be an understatement. The Office of Student Life is here to make sure of that. We take care of every aspect of your student experience, from where you live to what you do on Thursday nights (Brick House, baby). Here"s just a sample of what"s in store. Through Spiritual Life you"ll find new ways to grow in your faith. Our community is rooted in love for one another and for God, but it is not a Christian hideout from the world. Students and faculty alike challenge one another to examine, articulate and own their faith. Attending Timeout (a weekly student-led service), serving locally and joining an ABIDE group are just a few of the ways you can grow.
Staple campus traditions would not be possible without the Student Government Association (SGA) and other student leadership. SGA will give you opportunities to get involved, both on-campus and in the community. We"ve got the standard clubs and organizations (more than 40), but we also have some unique traditions and campus characters you might not find elsewhere. Come strut your stuff at our talent show, Fresheree (talent not required), or give back to the community during Give Week. You"ll find enough options to keep you involved and entertained for all four years.
16 percent of students on campus this year come from a culturally diverse background. The Office of Multicultural Affairs works to increase awareness, cooperation and understanding concerning ethnic, religious and cultural diversity on campus and in the local community.
