The Honors Program at the University of Maine at Augusta offers those students who have demonstrated intellectual potential and personal commitment an enriched academic experience. The Honors Program is not a separate degree program, but is designed to augment the course work required for a degree. In most cases, honors courses can be substituted for required or elective credits. The requirements of the Honors Program are flexible to meet the needs of our students – whether part-time, full-time, traditional, or non-traditional.
Clinical counseling services for all UMA students are available at both campuses. We’re located in 195F Jewett Hall on the Augusta campus and in 126 Eastport Hall on the Bangor campus. Counseling can be a great resource to help enhance your academic success as well as your overall college experience. UMA counselors provides a safe, non-judgmental setting where you can discuss your challenges and get support. You and the clinical counselor work together to agree on what issues you want to address, and what you want to get out of the counseling process.
Counseling can have many lasting benefits including: improved coping and problem solving skills, improved ability to deal with difficult situations and emotions, decrease in problematic emotional and mental health symptoms, increased self-awareness, improved communication and relationship skills, identification of individual strengths, and an overall increased ability to face life’s challenges.

The Office of Student Life provides an opportunity for students and campus organizations to participate in a variety of activities such as cultural tours, museum visits, concerts and seasonal events. Activities vary from semester to semester depending upon the desires of the student body. Tutoring is intended to help students increase their understanding of course material and improve their learning and study skills. Tutoring is available for most developmental and introductory courses as well as some upper-level courses. It is provided in individual or small group settings by qualified community or peer tutors. Tutoring is intended as a supplement to classroom instruction, and is not a substitute for regular attendance and participation in your classes.
