Wesley College is a United Methodist institution of higher education that seeks to be among the finest student-centered learning communities in the liberal arts tradition. Consistent with our Methodist heritage, the College affirms meaning and purpose in life through justice, compassion, inclusion and social responsibility that enhance community life and respect for the environment. Wesley College exists to liberate and empower its students with the knowledge, skills, ethical attitudes and capacity for critical thinking needed to achieve personal and professional goals and to contribute to the local and global society. In fall 2014, we began implementing a new core curriculum. The program is designed to give you the skills, knowledge and dispositions to be successful at Wesley and beyond. In the first level, you will learn essential skills that will be developed over your four years. In the second level, you take integrative courses in the liberal arts and at the third level, you will study an interdisciplinary “concentration” on values like ethical living or understanding diversity.

These programs, which offer opportunities for direct engagement in scientific research and technology featuring specialized instrumentation; large-scale, multidisciplinary efforts; and/or scientific user facilities, are available for undergraduate students enrolled at community colleges and/or four-year institutions, and for visiting faculty. Selected students or faculty participate at one of 17 DOE Laboratories/Facilities, receive stipends, and may qualify for travel and housing assistance.
Wesley College is committed to helping students participate in undergraduate research both on campus and at other institutions.
At the undergraduate level, we are committed to the liberal arts tradition. The undergraduate programs of study are embedded within the larger context of a Core Curriculum. The Core framework provides students a breadth of knowledge to function in a diverse and ever-changing world while the focus of study in a major provides depth of knowledge needed to pursue careers and or graduate education.
The small college atmosphere offers many benefits to students. Students learn with and from faculty who are experts in their fields which facilitates opportunities to be mentored and challenged individually in the education process. Our commitment to student-centered learning means students “learn to do” and “learn while doing” as guided by faculty. The Honors Program is designed for students with high academic ability and aspirations. Here courses are designed to provide enriched academic experiences consistent with abilities and interests. Numerous internship opportunities in the capital city of Delaware and along the mid-Atlantic corridor provide real-life problem-solving experiences to apply knowledge.
The graduate curriculum in each of the four areas is designed to give students a solid foundation in the core disciplines and the expertise to perform as leaders. Each program has specific entrance and graduation requirements.
Faculty at Wesley College are committed to excellence in their fields of study. Small class size gives students and faculty time for the in-depth examination and processing required for advanced-level study. Students are guided in classroom studies and in their fieldwork. This practical, small group interaction allows students to test their skills and receive feedback to evaluate their own progress and set goals for continued learning.
Wesley College participates in Federal and state financial aid programs as well as offering College scholarships. We believe that financial roadblocks should not stop anyone from capturing their dreams. The College offers a number of institutional grants and scholarships to eligible applicants.
