Novo Cineplex is proud to be the Middle East’s largest and most visited theatre chain, with a long history of cinema number one, a passion for movies, and a desire to excite film fans everywhere. Our journey began in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, in the year 2000, with the opening of our flagship cinema, which would become the cornerstone of an entertainment chain that would soon expand across borders and introduce to the region such pioneering technologies as online booking, e-kiosks, and the first cinema-dedicated mobile app, in addition to the UAE’s only IMAX screen. We joined the Gulf Film Group in 2012, which marked the start of an exciting new chapter in our history. Attuned to today’s change in social behaviors and needs.
In 2014, to adapt to evolving social habits and needs among today’s moviegoers, we named the chain Novo Cineplex, a name that best reflects our promise of a complete entertainment experience. In the same year, we opened our doors at World Trade Centre-Abu Dhabi, in the capital’s old central market, a location important to Emirati hearts. As a result, our vast network currently includes 115 screens and 22,000 seats spread across 14 locations all across the Middle East. Our latest expansion plans will see us reach over 200 screens by 2015, with our IMAX network expanding to four outstanding displays. Where formerly people gathered only to watch a show, people now meet, share, contribute, celebrate, and interact.
