The University of Education Burgenland is responsible for cross-border education and professionalization processes of educators. Scientific findings form the basis as well as social and educational challenges. The linguistic and cultural diversity of Burgenland is given special consideration. In the sense of a vocational biographical continuum of education, teacher training students, teachers i...n elementary, primary and secondary education as well as managers of the education system are qualified and promoted. In addition, the College of Education initiates and accompanies development processes of educational institutions and regions.
The Institute for Education incl. School Practical Studies ensures the planning, organization and execution of a regulated study operation of study programs, which are necessary in the context of the teacher training for compulsory schools. In addition, courses and higher education courses are offered to obtain additional qualifications, with special emphasis on teaching qualifications for Croatian and Hungarian (Romaneses if required). Furthermore, the planning, organization and implementation of the practical school studies of all supervised courses of study belongs to the tasks of the institute.
The "New Learning Culture" is revealed in the individual courses as well as in the fact that entire modules are dedicated to this focus. ELearning and media education are also firmly anchored in the modules. Courses for Croatian and Hungarian express the intensive engagement with the focus on multilingualism and intercultural education as well as the increased mobility of students and teachers. The work on this focus is visible across borders through numerous collaborations.
The co-ordination of the emphasis of the training and that of the school practical work are determining for the quality of the teacher training at the private educational university Burgenland. Based on the principle of unity of teaching and research, students should acquire the questioning attitude that is relevant to the responsible profession of teacher for lifelong learning.
The implementation of a new learning culture, of independent, self-organized and self-responsible learning, is implemented, tested and evaluated both in the area of ​​student education and in primary school.
The meaningful and purposeful use of new media thereby serves the future-oriented design of the lessons and thereby enables the competence to implement these media in the future also education-oriented.
On the multicultural basis of Burgenland, multilingualism and intercultural education should help to prepare our pupils and students for life in an open and united Europe and to prepare them with the necessary skills for a self-determined and self-organized life.
The library of the College of Education Burgenland is designed according to scientific criteria. Increased attention is paid to the expansion of the stock in the direction of multilingualism. Another focus will be on humanities and media education.
