The Medical University of Graz is a legal entity under public law whose legal basis is provided by the University Act (UG) 2002. Additionally, every university enacts the necessary regulations in the framework of laws and provisions itself through its statutes. Characteristic contents of the study programme in addition to a broad theoretical and practical basic knowledge of nursing include subjects of special focus, such as health promotion and disease prevention.
The University Library at the Centre for Medical Research is not just a typical library with the usual resources, instead the rooms and facilities require a much broader definition of library as a place. Workstations in the conventional sense alternate with comfortable reading zones; small seminar rooms fitted out with modern presentation technology offer place for group-oriented learning. Research desks facilitate quick access to information of all kinds and the two studios can be used for interactive studying.
Scientific journals, textbooks and reference works provide an overview of the medical literature of all specialties. Extensive information is collected, prepared and presented, independently of its form of publication. It ranges from traditional print media, databases, electronic media and learning materials and includes the establishment of a centre of excellence of knowledge discovery.
