The University of Finance and Administration (VSFS) was founded by the Bank Academy and Czech Coal Group in accordance with the state approval to act as a private institution of higher education.
The mission of the University of Finance and Administration is to become a prominent, respected and sought-after institution of education and research providing its graduates with the prerequisit...es for their stable career growth as well as full personal development. Upon graduation they will gain competitive advantage and successfully advance in the labour market throughout their working lives.
In 2001 its study centers in Most and Kladno were opened. A year later MBA study programs were launched in cooperation with City University Seattle (USA). Another year later the school set up Eupress, a publishing house producing study materials and books. In March 2003 VSFS acquired accreditation for the follow-up Master study. In the course of its first 5 years of existence the school became the biggest private institution of higher education in the CR in terms of the number of both students and teachers.
In 2009, the University of Finance and Administration has received state approval for Doctoral study program and became the first private University of Economics in the Czech Republic.Currently, about 5 600 students are enrolled.
Since its foundation the school has always paid attention to scientific work and international cooperation. It continuously organizes international expert conferences and scientific seminars, solves a number of research tasks and participates in professional projects for state institutions and private firms. Recently, it has also been developing cooperation with foreign colleges and universities and participating in international educational programs of students´ exchange Socrates and Erasmus.
International Summer Program in Prague 2018 is program organized by University of Finance and Administration, Prague, where the students gain 3 ECTS credits in International Business(IB) and discover Czech Republic, Culture and Business.
Our International Summer program will take a place from 17 July to 26 July 2018. At the beginning of the program, students attend the Official welcome ceremony, lecture of Czech and European History and Culture. The next 4 days will be filled with lectures of International Business taught by experience International Faculty members, student will attend professional visits in local and also international companies, exploring beautiful city of Prague, obtaining International experience and many other activities. Students will also attend cultural trip to city of Czech Republic UNESCO World Heritage – Kutná Hora, where they will explore the history of silver mining and production of first Czech coins.
The Library Services Centre of VSFS is a modern facility with high quality automated library system. It contains an extensive collection of books and periodicals and enables both searching and booking books up either directly from the library itself or remotely via the internet. The principles and standards of cataloguing meet international requirements.
The Library Services Centre of VSFS is fully available to both students and academic staff. The library contains 40 000 items. In addition, there are foreign and Czech periodicals as well as 70 EBSCO eBooks.
By virtue of research activities we seek to provide our academic staff with conditions beneficial for their development, to reinforce relations between research and education, and to motivate students for research within their field of study. We pursue original and applicable knowledge in areas which are current and interesting for both experts and wider public. In doing so, we are aware of the fact that research and development are the key device for the reinforcement of competitive strength of the Czech Republic and Europe, and for the progress in general.
With respect to content, our projects proceed within the scope of programs accredited by the Ministry of Education, which guarantees room for original interdisciplinary themes, and thus themes challenging methodology and team-work coordination. We engage in domain of knowledge based society and human resources, modern society, public administration, sustainable development and energetics, applied informatics, European integration and capital market.
The Partnership of Schools represents an extraordinary system of private schools of different degrees.Besides the University of Finance and Administration, the first private university of economics in the Czech Republic, it joins the grammar school, high school and vocational college falling under the Bank Academy. This year the Partnership of Schools was enlarged by the accession of Wonder Schools – elementary schools and kindergartens – which are under intensive preparations for opening.
VSFS takes an active part in various forms of international cooperation. In the sphere of education it is represented mainly by the mobility of students and teachers within the framework of Erasmus+ programs, EEA/Norwegian FMP and City University of Seattle Network (for BSBA and MBA students).
International activities of scientific and research nature include basic and commercial research in cooperation with foreign partners, appearances at international conferences and publishing in foreign professional periodicals and proceedings.
Fundamental prerequisite of a successful cooperation on an international scale is indisputably a sufficient presentation of the school and relationship building with potential foreign partners. That is why our school representatives take regularly part in educational fairs, international meetings, visits and fellowships organized or supported by the agencies Erasmus, Leonardo da Vinci, NAFSA, Fulbright Commission, Canadian Chamber of Commerce and American Chamber of Commerce. The result is a network of foreign colleges and universities our school cooperates with in the sphere of education and research; they are mainly the following European and North American schools.
