Heilbronn University ranks amongst the major institutions of Higher Education in the state of Baden-Württemberg where it caters for about 8,300 degree-seeking students on four campuses, namely Heilbronn – Sontheim, Heilbronn – Am Europaplatz, Künzelsau and Schwäbisch Hall.

Over the last two decades, Heilbronn University has become a regional leader in technology-driven fundamental and applied research and has established its own Institute of Applied Research.
The State of Baden-Württemberg will introduce tuition fees for international students from the winter semester 2017/2018 onwards. The law stipulates that international students are required to pay 1,500 euros per semester. Additional revenue is necessary in order to further promote the internationalization of the institutions of higher education in Baden-Württemberg and to offer international students a more specific support during their studies.
The fees are for international students who enter for the purpose of study. Students from the EU, the European Economic Area (EEA) and students who are part of an Erasmus Program are excluded from these fees. Refugees are also not affected. Students who have already begun their studies or who start in the summer semester 2017 are also unconcerned. Students who received their general qualification for university entrance in Germany without German citizenship are excluded.
Heilbronn University has placed research and instruction at the heart of its activities, while committing to creating optimal conditions for knowledge transfer and learning. More than 300 lecturers and members of staff ensure a learning environment in which the students can thrive and prove their academic mettle.
This is enhanced by a favourable teacher-learner ratio which results, inter alia, in efficient teamwork and highly satisfactory learning outcomes. The modern language programme on offer comprises mandatory modules in Arabic, English and Russian as well as optional classes in Spanish, French, Italian and German as a foreign language.
The University Library is responsible for providing all students, teachers and employees of the University with literature. It thus has branches at all four University locations, which are tailored to the respective degree programs.
The Library at the Heilbronn-Sontheim campus is the largest, holding over 100,000 media units. Its entrance is on the ground floor of the E building.The Künzelsau Library is located on the first floor of the D building. The library in Schwäbisch Hall is also on the first floor. At the campus at the Europaplatz in Heilbronn the library is located in the basement of the W-Bulding.

Aside from its collection of printed media, the Library has consistently expanded its stock of electronic books since 2005. There are now over 40,000 e-books available to Library users.
These and the printed collection are listed in the online catalogue and BOSS research tool, which can be accessed via the University"s computer network or via the VPN Client from anywhere.
Moreover, the University has acquired database licences in order to provide its users with a comprehensive collection of magazines, technical information, statistics, etc. You can access the databases directly via ReDI. A large part of the content is also available via BOSS. Unrestricted access to the database is only available via the University"s computer network or VPN.
The computing centre of Heilbronn University provides various IT services. To use these IT services, you require a valid user account with the University. The University account is your central account with the University that you keep during your entire study period.
Language courses relevant to exams are curricular language course programmes which are part of the study and examination regulations (SPO) of a degree programme. The course requirements completed as part of these courses will be included in the grade sheet. The timetable for the language courses relevant to exams will be included in the timetable of the respective degree programme, i.e. you will find the courses in the timetable for each semester within the relevant examination regulations. The classification of each course according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) can be found on the page of each language.
On the other hand, there are additional language courses or Studium Generale language courses which can be credited toward the "Studium Generale Certificate". These language courses are part of the Studium Generale programme offered by the Centre for Study and Teaching which coordinates all extracurricular teaching and educational measures for students, including the range of courses offered by the Reinhold-Würth University at Künzelsau Campus.
