National lnstitute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (NIPER)is an autonomous institution established under the aegis of Department of Chemical and Petrochemicals, Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers at Hajupur, district Vaishali, Bihar It is being set up as a centre of excellence for higher education, research and development in pharmaceutical sciences under Act of Parliament.(NIPER AC...T 1998) . The Institute is conceived to provide leadership in pharmaceutical sciences and other related areas and admits students for M.s. (Pharm.) Pharmaco-informatics, M.s. (Pharm.) Pharmacy Practice and M.s. (Pharm.) Biotechnology to begin with. Subsequently more postgraduate and doctoral programmes courses would be added on the lines of NIPER, SASNagar, Mohali (Punjab). A full-fledged campus is envisaged to set up on 100 acres of land to be allotted by Bihar Government near the present site. It would be the Endeavour of the Government to setup the permanent campus in public-private partnership model to the extent possible.
The National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (NIPER,Hajipur,Vaishali) is presently located at the Export Promotion Industrial Park (EPIP),Zandaha Road, Hajipur, Vaishali. .NIPER-Hajipur is the first Institute of its kind to be set up at in the State of Bihar Three postgraduate courses have been commenced during the academic session 2007-08. The Institute will attract students, teachers and research scientists from all over the country. It is an outcome of initiative taken by Government of India with the help of Bihar Government to provide state of art facilities for developing manpower with higher skills R&D servicesto the pharmaceutical sciences.
The Institute has admitted students for three postgraduate programs for the academic year 2007-08- M.s. (Pharm.) Pharmaco-informatics, M.s. (Pharm.) Pharmacy Practice and M.s. (Pharm.) Biotechnology.The classes are proposed to be started at NIPER Hajipur-Vaishali (EPIP campus) . and practical classes at Mentor Institute. In future after the setting up a permanent campus of NIPER, Hajipur several new post-graduate courses and doctoral courses would be started.
The Masters programme being offered at NIPER, Hajipur are moulded to achieve the sole objective of equipping students with the strong basics and modern development in the field and providing necessary skills to make them highly competitive in the job market. Their hard learnt skills are being sharpened with highly innovative project work in the leading institutions of the state.
