We have successfully completed the first academic year 2017-18. We begin the second academic session and continue our journey through 2018-19.
The University and the Academic Block were inaugurated on 7th July, 2017. The Hon"ble Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, the Hon"ble Education Minister Dr. Partho Chatterjee, Shri Laxmi Niwas Mittal, the Chairman & CEO of the ArcelorMittal, Hon"bl...e Chancellor Fr. Jeyaraj Veluswamy and several other dignitaries graced the memorable occasion.
Rooted in and inspired by the Ignatiancharism of forming men and women for others, St. Xavier"s University, Kolkata, as a Centre of Excellence, strives to promote a society based on love, freedom, liberty, justice, equality and fraternity
The University emphasises on service learning and social dimension of Education. The Department of Outreach Programs organized Shishu Mela in which about 75 University students involved themselves as volunteers to organize the Mela for 100 neighbourhood children.
The University celebrated its Foundation Day on January 15, 2018. The Hon"ble Education Minister, Dr. Partho Chatterjee was the Chief Guest and the Hon"ble Vice-Chancellor of Jadavpur University, Prof. Suranjan Das delivered the Foundation Day lecture. "St Xavier"s University is "the model to follow", said Dr. Partho Chatterjee. "That an institute backed by a legacy of excellence will attract students irrespective of its location." He urged other Institutes to stand up to be counted.
