PENS early history began in 1985. At that time, the beginning of the study team Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) for assistance and technical cooperation headed by Prof. Y. Naito from the Tokyo Institute of Technology, came to this polytechnic. After making observations and feasibility studies in 1986, JICA agreed to start technical cooperation in 1987 to send five instructors Indo...nesia to college of technology in Japan.
On March 15, 1988, the Government of Japan, through JICA officially give the campus to the Indonesian government building complete with a variety of educational tools. Furthermore, on June 2, 1988 the Polytechnic was established under the name "Polytechnic Electronics and Telecommunications (PET)" and since that time the school year starts. Cooperation with JICA was continued with the number of polytechnic teachers are sent to various colleges of technology in Japan and vice versa, sending several experts from Japan to this polytechnic.
In June 1991, the Minister of Education and Culture reorganized the entire existence of the Polytechnic Institute and some universities in Indonesia. At that point this polytechnic was renamed "Polytechnic Electronics Surabaya (PES)" which is part of the Institute of Technology Surabaya (ITS).In 1996, the name of the polytechnic was re-converted by the Minister of Education and Culture to "Electronic Engineering Polytechnic Institute of Surabaya (PENS)". That name which stuck until now.
Vision is to be the leading center of education engineering technology in the field of emerging technology in national and international scale. Mission is to education by providing academic environment and quality atmosphere to produce graduates who are professional, open-minded, creative and spirited leader, ready to compete in the global era.As a national polytechnic resources, play an active role in the development and improvement of polytechnic education system in Indonesia.
