History of Muhammadiyah University Ponorogo In embrional university muhammadiyah ponorogo established since 1960, with the beginning of the establishment of faculty tarbiyah Department of Islamic Religion Institute of Islamic Studies Muhammadiyah Ponorogo. In 1975 following the standing Faculty of Social Sciences and Political Science (FISIP) Department of Social Welfare (S1). In 1978 it opened again Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) Department of PMP and KN (S1) and Mathematics Education (S1), both of which are status as branch of University of Muhammadiyah Malang. Then since the academic year 1982/1983 marked by the out of pasing out provisions for branch faculty, the Ponorogo Muhammadiyah leaders supported by the exponents of education that exist pioneered the establishment of Muhammadiyah Ponorogo University independently by adding two new faculty namely Faculty of Economics and Faculty of Engineering. In the spirit of high ideals and struggles that do not recognize resa tired, finally exit the Minister of Education and Culture No. 0813 / O / 1986 dated 19 November 1986 which endorsed the establishment UniversitasMuhammadiyah Ponorogo with 5 faculties and 7 departments.
Vision of the university is to "Being a superior university in the mastery of science, technology, and art based on Islamic values". Mission are Providing qualified academic, professional, and vocational education based on Islamic values; Conducting research and dedication to a quality society based on Islamic values; Carry out the management of trustworthy institutions and rely on the quality assurance system; Organizing coaching and development of academic community in Islamic life; Conducting cooperation with other parties that are mutually beneficial and accountable.
Aim are To produce graduates with excellent academic, professional, and vocational skills in the field of science and technology based on Islamic values; To produce graduates who are nationally competitive in the field of ipteks based on Islamic values; Produce quality research work in the field of science and technology based on Islamic values; Produce a work of dedication to a quality society in the field of ipteks based on Islamic values; To realize the governance of institutions that are trustworthy and based on the quality assurance system; Realizing the culture of Islamic life in all academic community; Produce cooperation and network with other parties that are mutually beneficial and accountable.
A new milestone successfully laid in the development of Muhamadiyah University Ponorogo entered its age which reached Tri Dasawarsa since its establishment in 1986, namely the predicate has been accredited institutionally with the rating of "B" from National Accreditation Board of Higher Education (BAN-PT) based on Decree No. 169 / SK / BAN-PT / Akred / PT / IV / 2015. This status has indirectly become a new challenge for academic community Unmuh Ponorogo, considering the need for special treatment to maintain sustainability and even the development of this point of achievement. The good news is, they all require a great energy and one of them comes from human resourceswhich exists. Efforts to improve human resources have been drawn up in the institution"s roadmap , it is expected that over the next three years will follow 20 new doctors complete 11 existing doctors.
The stages of the development of academic and non academic facilities in Unmuh Ponorogo have also been described in the Development Master Plan document for 2012-2036 and the Strategic Plan 2016-2020. All efforts lead to the achievement of a vision to become a superior university in the mastery of science, technology, and art based on Islamic values.
On the other hand, communication with the international community has also been understood throughout the academic community as one of the efforts to accelerate the Internationalization of institutions.
