University of Muhammadiyah PONTIANAK (UM PONTIANAK) is one of 178 Muhammadiyah universities in Indonesia. Establishment initiated by the Regional Chairman of Muhammadiyah West Kalimantan period 1985 - 1990, and subsequently inaugurated its founding by Persyarikatan Muhammadiyah Central Executive, represented by the Chairman of the Council of Higher Education Muhammadaiyah Drs. Al-Kindi Djazman ...on 3 October 1990. The UMP licensed establishments Decision Letter (SK) of the Ministry of Education and Culture No. 0518 / O / 1990 with registered status for 3 (three) faculties namely Faculty of Economics, Department of Management, Faculty Aquaculture Department of Agriculture, and the Faculty of Engineering Department of Mechanical Engineering.
At the beginning of establishment (1990 - 1991) the administrative activities and lectures held in Complex University of Muhammadiyah (Muhammadiyah High School building) Jalan A. Yani Pontianak. Furthermore, the end of 1991 UMP buy sports hall located at Jalan A. Yani No. 111 Pontianak, adjacent to the House Elections Commission (KPU) and the Office of the Governor of West Kalimantan, so at the end of the same year administration of all activities and lectures are held in the building after renovation.
