State University of Novi Pazar was founded on October 26, 2006, by the Resolution of the Government of Republic of Serbia, as the first Integrated state university in Republic of Serbia. Having in mind that the University, according to its founding act, is integrated, the first rector, Prof. dr Cemal Dolicanin and the Temporary Council chose the department model for the university structure. In...tegrated structure and department model of University, as well as responsibility of Management for development of the University, gave the visible results. On November 26, 2007, University was accredited for performing scientific-researching activity in the area of natural-mathematic, technical-technological, medical, social and mathematical sciences. Besides, State University of Novi Pazar was the first in Republic of Serbia to fulfill conditions of accreditation for performing educational activity of all three levels of study and received, on May 9, 2008, the accreditation by the Commission for Accreditation and Quality Control.
Today, State University of Novi Pazar is re-accredited higher education institution that enables acquiring diplomas of bachelor, master’s and doctoral studies. In the name of quality, as our thorough determination, University develops an intensive cooperation with all state universities in Republic of Serbia, as well as many foreign universities from other countries, such as France, Austria, Italy, England, Hungary, Turkey, Bulgaria, Macedonia, Montenegro, Croatia, Slovenia, Bosnia and Hercegovina, Russia, Ukraine, Belorussia, Slovakia. Thus, it acquires possibility of cooperation on projects and mobility of students and professors.
Appreciating the fact that development of contemporary society in high extent changed needs of students, in the area of educational contents and educational methods as well, from the very beginning we chose higher inter-disciplinary approach in performing contemporary educational methods. Having in mind that the time of strict division, in education and science, even division on scientific fields, is past, staff at State University of Novi Pazar pay attention to social and other phenomena attractive to many academic profiles. On these study programs, students are given a complete whole of curriculum of each course, in which many professors of different specialties provide the most recent and interesting segments from the aspect of their scientific area. In performing educational process on these study programs, many eminent professors from different state universities in Republic of Serbia and other European countries are involved, making our integrated university step into European educational area.
Approaching development of the most contemporary study programs and methods, which is thorough determination of State University of Novi Pazar, students are provided with flexible and open forms of learning, such as seminars, mentor’s work, panel discussions, workshops, circular sessions and debates. One of the fundamental tasks of State University of Novi Pazar is creating the quality raising generation of our own, that shows the talent for educational and scientific-researching work while on bachelor studies. Thus, by choosing the best students for associates and assistants, State University of Novi Pazar provides certain quality personnel, which paves its way towards society of the most prominent universities of the world.
The mission of the University of Novi Pazar lies in the answer to why do we need a regional university center which concerns itself with the development of its region, the raising of the system of values and its sustainability over a longer period of time. The internal mission of the University of Novi Pazar is:

• The educating of professional experts of a new generation and the effort to make quality higher education available to all those who wish it,

• The designing of a broad specter of possibilities for acquiring knowledge, the developing of skills and learning new positions through basic, diploma and doctoral academic studies,

The University of Novi Pazar aims to become and important center of scientific thought in various fields by the creation of modern and high quality study programs of further education at the master"s and doctoral studies levels and inclusion in its work of both Serbian and foreign experts. The University of Novi Pazar, as a specific education subsystem is an autonomous and functional unit of the education system of Serbia. Within the overall system of higher education in Serbia, the University of Novi Pazar is qualified for efficient and timely communication. For the purpose of coordination of itegrative processes of cooperation between institutions and society on the one hand, and professors and students on the other. The advancement and profesionalization of scientific and teaching activities, the creation of scientific and professional teams, the establishing of a network of experts and scientific research are the basic components of the systemic approach to higher education at the University of Novi Pazar.
