Chang Jung Christian University (CJCU) is a private university located in southern Taiwan. CJCU is committed to developing the God-given gifts and abilities of each student within a culture of love, respect, and service. The university was founded in 1992 but is the outgrowth of a vision that began more than one hundred years earlier with the founding of Chang Jung Senior High School, Taiwan’...s first western-style high school, in 1885.
Chang Jung Christian University (CJCU) is affiliated with the Presbysterian Church in Taiwan (PCT) and seeks to continue the PCT’s role as an educational pioneer in Taiwan. The University offers a unique approach to education based on Biblical model of the Good Shepherd who is not willing to lose one sheep. It places great value on the potential of each student and yet, at the same time, seeks to build a culture of humble service.
Sustainability is a foundational principle at Chang Jung Christian University. At this critical juncture in the history of the planet, we cannot afford to educate the current generation for “business as usual.” We are proud of the university’s achievements in sustainability, which include the River Restoration Center, a joint project of CJCU and the Taiwan Environmental Protection Agency, and we are committed to educating students who will be at the forefront of the sustainability movement.
We must equip students with skills that will enable them to succeed in an increasingly competitive global marketplace, and in this age of rapidly evolving technology, we must prepare them to be lifetime learners. This means that we, as administrators and educators, must also master new technologies to their fullest advantage. We laud the efforts of CJCU’s Computer Center in this area.
Chang Jung Christian University seeks to build its relationships with the civic, industrial, and educational institutions in southern Taiwan through active service. As we grow in awareness of our community needs and strive to meet them, our value in the eyes of the community will grow.
CJCU is an institution that cherishes its local roots but seeks to prepare students who are responsible global citizens. This means that we must make them aware of the whole world and not just the privileged One-Third World.
These principles will bear good fruit, but only if they are put into practice, put into practice well, and practiced over a sustained period of time. They will keep us on a sure path toward our goal to be the best private university in southern Taiwan and to be a Christian university that, by the grace of God, changes the world. They will ensure that Chang Jung Christian University fulfills the destiny that is contained in its name (長榮, Chang Jung, “lasting glory”).
The Office of International Affairs was founded by Chang Jung Christian University in 2006 to advance the University’s goals of global engagement and expansion of its international relationships. Our responsibilities include initiation and development of cooperation between CJCU and international partner schools, supervision of inbound and outbound student exchange programs, coordination of international student admissions, and support for international students.
CJCU is a community of approximately 11,000 students and 350 faculty members who are eager to extend the warmth and hospitality of southern Taiwan to the rest of the world. The University places high value on its relationships with partner schools, research agencies, churches, and other organizations around the world. As a Christian university, we seek to live out a gospel message that is for all peoples. As we press toward the goal of greater internationalization, we remain committed to the beauty and diversity of local culture.
