About Hsuan Chuang University. Hsuan Chuang University was founded in 1997 in Hsinchu City, Taiwan, originally as "Hsuan Chuang College of Humanities and Social Sciences."In the first year of establishment, five academic departments (Foreign Languages, Law, Mass Communication, Social Welfare, and Information Management) and one graduate institute (Religion) began to enroll students. Approved by... the Ministry of Education in 2004 for its outstanding academic performance, Hsuan Chuang College of Humanities and Social Sciences moved to the next challenging stage, and officially became “Hsuan Chuang University."
The scope of the University has gradually expanded in the following years, both academic programs and facilities, such as a state-of-art virtual studio and Hsuan Chuang Television Station. In the summer of 2005, Hsuan Chuang University won approval as one of the best in the newly established private universities in the National Academic Evaluation. The University’s outstanting performance in education was again recognized by the Ministry of Education, since awarded the Grant for Promoting University Academic Excellence in 2006. Since the fall of 2006, five colleges containing 17 academic departments and 12 graduate programs have been set up, and 12 research centers are in operation. Today, the development of Hsuan Chuang University steadily continues.
The University Motto: Virtue, Knowledge, Diligence and Perseverance. Our Pillars are Refining, Creativity, Warmth, and Care. Our Characteristics, Instilling in students general knowledge. Main courses for freshmen and sophomores are general courses and natural science to give students a wider global view. Humanities We are especially concerned about life, culture and art. We encourage student autonomy. We emphasize clarity of mind and beautification of our campus environment. We aim to become a comprehensive university to serve our community. We combine education with community service. In addition to different kinds of student service clubs, we are in the process of organizing a Hsang community service team.
So far, we have 17 undergraduate departments and 8 graduate institutes in four fields, Humanities, Social Science, Management, and Media.
Humanities. The Graduate Institute of Chinese Language and Literature, which also has an undergraduate department. The Graduate Institute of Religion, which also has an undergraduate department. The Department of Foreign Languages and Literature.
Social Science area. We have the Departments of Law, Social Welfare, Library and Information Science, Applied Psychology, and Adult and Continuing Education. Graduate Institute in the Social Science area including Law, Social welfare.
Management field. We have the Departments of Business, Financial, Information Management, and Public Affairs Management, International Commerce, Marketing Management, and Graduate Institute of Public Affairs Management, Business, Information Management.
Media field. We have the Departments of Mass Communications, Library and Information Science, Journalism, and Visual Communication Design, and Graduate Institute of Information Communication.
