Our mission is based on an educational philosophy of balanced development by which the ideal of a holistic education can be achieved. A holistic education embraces four balances.

In the year 1965, senior Kuo Ming Tong member Wong zhong-shan, National Assembly deputy Lee hong-chao, Lao li-xu gathered together. They decided to devote what they had at hand respectively and made it into a name brand school to prepare appropriate manpower during industrialization of ROC in the 70s. In July of that year the blueprint of the school took its form, and in October the Board of Directors was established.
In 2002 August, it officially became Ming-hsin University of Science and Technology, having Industry, Management, Service Study, Humanities and Social Sciences Groups—9 graduate programs, 21 departments. Number of students in the same year reached its peak at 15,000 historically. Alumna and alumnus were over 70,000 and all over the world and several were prominent industry entrepreneurs already. Mr. Wong guang-sheng is the standing chairman of Board, and Professor Yang Chao-Chen is the standing President of University.
University took its school name “Ming-hsin” from Da-xueh Scroll—translation of the original Chinese meaning: the purpose of studying is to explicit virtue, to equip people, to improve incessantly until you reach thorough welfare for the whole people. It is the firm belief for presidents of this institute ever since the school started.
Ming-hsin is located in Xin-zhu hsien, Xin-fong hsiung, with school campus over 30 hectares. It is right beside Provincial High and is pretty close to Zhong-shan First Highway. With sufficient green foliage, it is excellent for pupils to cultivate professional skills as well as good virtues—perseverance, originality, and innovation—which is also the school motto for its pupils.

Office of Research & Development is the university agency to connect with government, industries, and community for university development, research, intellectual reinforcement, continuing education, career development and alumni services. These tasks are divided into four subdivisions that are University Planning Center (UPC), Research & Technology Promotion Center (RTPC), Extension Education Center (EEC), and Career & Alumni Services Center (CASC).
University Planning Center (UPC) is an agency for submitting grant proposals and accepting grant awards for the university’s integrated and strategic project and development. The office drafts and plans the mid- to long-term development of the university, and administers the external supports (such as grants and founding from the Ministry of Education) to academics. It is also responsible for integration of supports and establishing the valuable characteristics of the school.
Research and Technology Promotion Center (RTP) assist faculty member on academic and technical advancement for educational purpose and economical development. It is an agency for submitting grant proposals and accepting grant awards as well as focusing on individual research, group projects and other scholarly activities (such as faculty member training, seminars and conference). In addition, technology transfer and intellectual property management activities are also provided through this office. The tasks of RTP are (l) to correspond external research sponsor and internal resources to administer the internal grants for research programs. (2) to support the research and project activities and promote the research outcomes. (3) to establish the partnership with external resources in technology and business aspect. (4) to connect and promote university services to business (such as technology research & transfer, employee training, technical consulting, testing, professional workforce, programmed student internship etc) and to establish the partnership with business and industries on profit or educational purpose. (5) to evaluate, promote, protect, market, license, negotiate and maintain inventions and other intellectual property and technical services.
MUST realize that internationalization has become more and more important for engineering schools, we have been globally active. We have been recognized as one of the best vocational training schools in Taiwan. The college of Engineering is now encouraging more foreign professors to teach and more foreign students to enroll in our graduate program.
