SMU was fortunate to have the support of its founding members that count among them corporations, business leaders, professionals and scholars. To ensure the university’s academic independence, no single founding member has been given a binding vote.
The initial SMU team instituted the Executive MBA program which was overseen by Dr. Mahmoud Triki. Joining Dr. Triki’s efforts was an initial team that included Dr. Taoufik Jelassi, Professor of Management Technology and Information Systems and Dean of the International MBA at the Ecole Nationales des Ponts et Chaussée de Paris and Nabil Triki, then Strategy Consultant at the Boston Consulting Group in Paris.
As the program gained momentum, the team expanded to include Neila Gharsallah, Stanford alumnae holding an MS in Management; IT engineers Haythem Abdelkafi and Nadhir Douma and MBA holder from George Washington University, Hala Ammar who later became the Director of Admissions.
The 2+2 program allows students to complete the first two years of the “Bachelor of Business Administration- B.B.A” at MSB in Tunis and then transfer to HEC Montréal in Canada to complete the two last/ remaining years and obtain the Bachelor degree of HEC Montréal.
The curriculum of the two first years at MSB is similar in all respects to HEC Montréal B.B.A in terms of: instruction language (French, English, or bilingual), content, teaching methods, and access to the HEC Montréal library. Some of the classes at MSB will also be provided by HEC Montréal professors.
The B.B.A curriculum offers a solid general training, the guarantee of versatility on the job market, and a good preparation for graduate studies.
The curriculum is a three-level one that helps a smooth progression from one step to the other. It is divided as follows:

• The first year is the preparatory one during which high school degree holders are offered the opportunity to upgrade their skills.
• The first level during which students are initiated to the Business Environment through subjects such as: management, accounting, economics, sociology, and applied mathematics.
• The second level during which the students have the opportunity to enhance their knowledge and to carry on with acquiring the basics in management.
• The third level during which the students acquire an expert knowledge in a management-related field.
