Gomel State Medical University - is the science and advanced technology, modern equipment and modern methods of teaching, and most importantly - talented teachers, students and graduates in demand. In accordance with the National Classifier of the Republic of Belarus at the ATU implements:

• Educational program Higher Education I stage which provides the skill of higher education. Training of specialists on the first stage of higher education is conducted on 2 specialties: 1-79 January 1 "Medicine" and 1-79 April 1 "Medical-diagnostic business".
• Educational program of higher education stage II, which form the knowledge and skills pedgogicheskoy scientific and research work and provides a master"s degree. Training of highly qualified scientific personnel, and organized with a margin on the job through postgraduate, doctoral and competition.
• Educational program of postgraduate education. In clinical studies currently enrolled 122 people.
• Educational program of pre-university training.

Preparation of candidates is done through graduate school full-time and correspondence forms of training in 30 specialties. Currently in graduate school studying 53 people, 40 of them - in the form of job hunting.
Gomel State Medical University is one of the most important centers of medical science in the Republic of Belarus. The scientific work is carried out at 36 chairs, 5 specialized research laboratories. The main forms of the research activities of the Gomel State Medical University are - Implementation of fundamental, applied and contract research projects, as well as the organization and holding of scientific conferences and seminars; training of highly qualified scientific personnel; organization of student scientific society and of the Council of young scientists; invention and innovation; publication of scientific literature (monographs published, journals, collections of articles and abstracts). University scientists are taking part in the research on government programs, the social order in the field of fundamental research.
Thus, in 2016 it was published 2 monographs, 78 book publications, published 749 articles in journals and collections of scientific works, including 150 articles - in magazines abroad. During the period 1996-2016 gg. It was obtained 150 patents submitted and accepted for use innovations 1236, approved document 97 to the application of methods of prevention, diagnosis, treatment, rehabilitation and organizational forms of work.

The collaboration with the University of Fukushima and Nagasaki (Japan) conducted joint research on issues relevant to Belarus and Japan, in the aftermath of the Chernobyl accident and nuclear power plant "Fukushima-1".
Thanks to international projects and programs strengthening the material-technical and educational-methodological base of the university, develop curricula and introduce new programs, conducted training and professional development of the teaching staff.
The training system, occupies a special place educational work , the aim of which is to create conditions for the formation of personality with civic qualities of a patriot, spiritual, moral, cultural and ethical values, which owns the generally accepted rules of behavior in society, corresponding to the characteristics of a competent professional capable of self-realization and success. In accordance with these settings, considerable attention is paid to the project activity, which is being implemented on a wide range of areas and allows each student to realize their creative ideas, discover their leadership potential in various spheres of socio-political, economic and cultural life of the city, region, country.
Citizens of visa-free regime (Russian Federation, Kazakhstan, Ukraine, Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Armenia, and others.) In receiving an invitation to training is not needed. Citizens of the Russian Federation, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan can enter university by the results of the centralized testing on the medical faculty and the Faculty of Medical and Diagnostic on an equal footing with citizens of Belarus.
After receiving training at the University conducts its examination of the candidate documents and make a decision on the possibility of registration of the invitation to study in accordance with the rules of foreign citizens in the current academic year.
