The University of Split offers the most of studying programmes, meeting different interests which can be found at many modern universities all around the world.
There are two types of studies, university and professional studies.

1. University studies educate students for highly professional work, and and throughout continued education for scientific work.
2. Professional stu...dies are aimed more for students who have more affinity for the particular pracitcal knowledge and faster integration in the field of work.

There is a difference regarding the studies level between university and professional studies. University studies are performed as undergraduate, graduate and postgraduate studies, while professional studies are performed at only one level, with the possiblity of continuing the education at graduate professional or, under certain conditions, at graduate university studies.
It is a predominant scientific and teaching public institution in the region the University of Split has expanded during the course of the past 30 years to include eleven Faculties, one Academy of Arts and four University Departments.There are about 24,000 students enrolled in the University’s undergraduate, graduate and post-graduate programs.
The focus of the research work carried out by the University is on scientific areas with reference to disciplines characterized by natural, biomedical, cultural, historical, social, economic and other features of the region as a part of the Croatian Adriatic and the Mediterranean region as a whole.
This involves the research and protection of art and construction heritage, philology, field crops, oceanography and fishing, Adriatic botany and zoology, island and coastal economy, Adriatic tourism, maritime law, nautical science, naval architecture and a range of other specific disciplines such as chemical engineering, civil engineering, architecture, electrical and mechanical engineering, social sciences, kinesiology, humanities, health sciences, forensics, all of which distinguish the University of Split, not only in Croatia but also beyond its borders.
Pursuant to Act on Amendments to the Act on the Recognition of Foreign Education Qualifications, (Official Gazette Narodne novine 138/2006), having entered into force on 28 December 2006 and University of Split Regulations on Academic Recognition of Foreign Higher Education Qualifications and Study Periods, academic recognition of foreign higher education qualifications and recognition of periods of study at foreign higher education institutions for the purpose of continuing education in Croatia is carried out by the higher education institution in Croatia where the applicant seeks to continue his / her higher education.
University of Split quality assurance system represents the totality of quality assurance in higher education with the final goal of integration of the University in the European Higher Education Area.
The aims of the quality assurance system are:

• Creating the quality assurance system at the university though initiating and coordinating the initiatives and implementing the program for the continuous enhancement of quality, defining indicators, standards and criteria for quality enhancement, ensuring internal assessment as one of the preconditions for quality management, encouraging and organizing professional training of internal users of the system and ensuring feedback from the users and following their suggestions, proposals and criticism.
• Developing mechanisms and integrating the culture of quality enhancement into the normative documents and other aspects of university activity, and especially though development of the Quality Assurance Handbook of the University and its constituents.

University Library in Split is a scientific institution and acentral library of the University of Split which gathers and distributes information resources for all the Split faculties providing the users with appropriate studying conditions and work.
After National and University Library in Zagrebit is one of the richest libraries in the Republic of Croatia. Its fund contains around 400,000 books and 12,000 serial publications, and there is a rich collection of rare and valuable books, geographical maps and atlases, illustration and music materials. Its opening hours are student-friendly, open for early birds in the morning till 1 am for those studying late. Erasmus students can use all of the resources of the library once they become a member.
Pursuant to the Sports Act, all of the official competitions at the University of Split are to be organized by the Split University Sports Federation, the legal successor to the Split University Sport Association. In addition to organizing sporting events in this area, Split University Sports Federation also takes care about the performances of our students, that is, of university teams, at all student competitions in Croatia, as well as numerous international competitions.
Entire activity of the Split University Sports Federation up to this point has been the starting point for achieving our final goal: BRINGING THE UNIVERSITY SPORT TO THE LEVEL OF THE HIGHEST AND MOST PROMINENT EUROPEAN UNIVERSITIES. Sporting tradition of Split and reputation of our University obliges us to achieve this goal.
To this end, the Split University Sports Federation organizes over 15 sporting and recreational events every year, including the International Rowing Regatta Sveti Duje, with participation of best university rowing teams in Europe, including the Oxford and Cambridge teams.
