Founded in 1898 by the Society of Jesus, Icam remains true to its Jesuit heritage and to the vision of the founder of the Society of Jesus, St. Ignatius of Loyola. Jesuit education strives to seek the truth and to form each student into a whole person of solidarity who will take responsibility for the real world. Icam, Grande Ecole française, delivers Engineering Degrees (Master level) and offers trainings in engineering : lectures and qualifications, internships in our labs in R&D projects (for short or long periods), research activities, cooperative programs. We offer students an educational environment unmatched for its diversity of thought and experience, aiming at encouraging a personal development. Our lectures are organized on a human scale, permitting students to benefit from small groups, leading to a richer and fuller exchange with other students and staff members. Our full time teaching staff ensures the role of following and guiding students throughout the year, throughout their studies and projects. Our approach to teaching and study programs is inspired by the life and work of Saint Ignatius of Loyola, the founder of the Jesuit movement in the 16th century. Underlining the importance of teamwork, ethics and social involvement is also key to professional and personal development.

Icam Lille campus was the first one to be founded in 1898. Two industrialists from the north part of France were the founding fathers of the school of engineering. They were also very sensitive to providing training courses in continuing education along with the Master degree of engineering. This is the reason why Icam is still today ensuring a real social promotion which is part of its Ethics.
The idea of providing an engineer training through apprenticeship was implemented in Lille in the early 1990’s and was then developped on the campuses of Toulouse, La Roche-sur-Yon and Vannes.
The campus is located at a 15-minute walk from Lille city centre and is embedded in the Catholic University of Lille (over 20 000 students).
