Created in 1966, INSA Rennes is a member of the INSA Group, the leading French network of state graduate and post graduate engineering schools, composed of 6 schools in France, 7 partner schools and 1 international INSA in Morocco.
Research and innovation are the key elements of INSA training, which benefits from the expertise of its 130 professors and lecturers . With almost 1800 students, INSA Rennes is a prestigious “Grande Ecole”, a graduate and post graduate school of sensible proportions. INSA Rennes delivers high level scientific training conforming to the highest official European standards: Masters in engineering / Masters by research / Doctorates (PhD).
Recognized for the excellence of their scientific training, French state “Grandes Ecoles d’ingénieurs” have very selective recruitment, based on the academic performance of the students. Only the best students are accepted by INSA Rennes (1 in 7 candidates is admitted into the first year), on the basis of their dossier and interview. Subsidized by the state, INSA engineer training is accessible to students from all social backgrounds.
Engineer training, being both scientific and technical, favors teamwork and a high employment rate through practical sessions, industrial projects and internships in companies, in France and abroad (11 months possible over the 5 years of study). INSA Rennes engineers have great employment potential, finding their first job within 1.2 months on average (2014 graduates). 50% of the students are even recruited before graduating.
INSA-Rennes is a founding member of the INSA Group, which comprises 6 engineering colleges in the following large regional capitals: Centre-Val de Loire, Lyon, Rennes, Rouen, Strasbourg and Toulouse.

As part of an exchange program, foreign students can come and study for one or two semesters. Alternatively, there is also the option of following the traditional curriculum to obtain the INSA Engineering or Research Master.
The first two years of study at INSA Rennes are based on a core curriculum designed for all engineering students. It also gives them the knowledge of human sciences that are so vital for anybody wishing to choose one of 7 masters of engineering.

The INSA/ENSAI French Summer School allows students to come to Rennes from May 28 to June 22, 2018 to learn about France and its culture while also learning how to speak the language. Rennes is the capital of Brittany, a region renowned for some of France’s most spectacular coastline and scenery. It is just 85 minutes west of Paris via the TGV high-speed train and boasts multiple direct flights to Europe’s international hubs in Paris, Amsterdam, Madrid, and Rome.
The cost of the program, just 2000 euros, includes accommodation, classes, and cultural outings. Students must cover the cost of meals but can buy a meal pass for the university restaurant (under 5 euros per meal) or cook their own meals in their residence hall kitchen.
French language classes are taught by professionally trained and certified French as a Foreign Language teachers. An Introduction to French Culture class is taught in English to ensure that everyone gets the most out of the classes, regardless of their level in French.
