While teaching in the sciences obviously constitutes the core of the five-year engineering programmes, the "Humanities" have also played a central role since the creation of INSA Lyon in training engineers who are open to the world. In addition to the languages, philosophy and culture, our engineering students benefit from specific training in management and issues inherent to the corporate world. These teachings include foundations of ethical reflection, implementing innovative and active pedagogies that aim to provide the students with opportunities to learn about citizenship, gain autonomy, and develop a sense of responsibility, while encouraging creativity and innovation.
INSA Lyon is a leader in science education, as well as a pioneer in terms of its policies concerning accessibility and diversity. INSA Lyon stands out from the crowd. For example, it is one of the few engineering schools that houses a High Level Sports Section (SSHN) recognised by the Ministry for Sport.
The Student Counselling and Support Service offers a warm welcome with personal advice and support by psychologists for all students throughout their education at INSA Lyon, with the aim of helping them succeed. Individual counselling sessions can be on a regular or as-needed basis depending on the students" preferences, and take place in an understanding, non-judgemental and strictly confidential setting.
The cultural service promotes INSA"s cultural activity by offering a variety of events throughout the year that are open to all (contemporary art exhibitions, lectures, "Humas Mondays", etc.). In addition to its work of collaboration with INSA"s various cultural actors, it publishes "les rendez-vous culturels" several times a year in order to promote and open up the establishment"s cultural life to the city and the Lyon conurbation.
