The National School of Engineering inTarbes -known as ENIT- is a state-maintained establishment offering a five-year MEng course. The School has been training non-specialist engineers in the fields of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering for over 50 years and is a forward thinking institution where exceptional teaching and research leads to world-changing solutions.
The first-class 5-yea...r training runs for 10 semesters of studies which focus on business issues. The MEng course includes three intensive periods of work in industry (two internships and one final year project) which make up 30% of the total course workload.
Ninety per cent of ENIT graduates find jobs in a wide range of sectors, including aircraft, automotive and railway construction, mechanical or electrical design and engineering, civil engineering and construction, information technology, the environment, etc., within six months of graduating.
Students wishing to be considered for a double degree* are subject to the same prerequisites (B1 in French + 180 validated ECTS, and shall take Semesters 7 to 10 at ENIT. To obtain an ENIT degree, they will also need to have an accredited B2 Level in English.
ENIT education focuses primarily on relationships with companies. Training is strongly focused on the job environment, as 25% of students" training takes place in a corporate environment.
The APEL reflects the fact that you are entitled, like anyone who has been in work, to have your previous work experience accredited with a view to securing all or part of a degree or qualification.
APEL is for anyone in employment or jobseekers educated to BAC+2 level [2nd year of higher education] and with a minimum of 3 years" continuous or intermittent experience in a managerial position, a salaried position, self-employed or in voluntary work which relate directly to the degree or qualification concerned.
It is housed at the Ecole Nationale d’Ingénieurs de Tarbes– French National Industrial and Mechanical Engineering School, located in the South-West of France. The LGP has had a strong track record since its early days and has been recognised by the French Ministry of Higher Education and Research since 1991.
The purpose of which was to promote ENIT graduates to professionals, was held in 2015, with 40 companies in attendance (major groups and SMEs) represented by their managing directors, human resources directors or senior engineers. The event, while aimed at offering future engineers with all the useful advice they would need with regard to recruitment and career prospects, also promoted links between the college and industry regarding subjects ranging from training (international voluntary service, continuous professional development) to research conducted by ENIT"s Production Engineering Laboratory and its 110 materials engineering, mechanical engineering and industrial engineering researchers.
The presence of these major groups and SMEs is an endorsement of the excellent reputation ENIT engineers have in industry.
All this demonstrates the prime importance for student engineers of designing their training path in a coherent way (choice of specialisation, work placements, residence abroad) and include them in their career plans.
The main focus of ENIT education is on relationships with business. Training is strongly focused on the work environment, as 25% of the student"s training takes place in a corporate environment.
The MEng course is divided 10 semesters (Semester 1 to Semester 10). After two semesters of basic and introductory courses in engineering and science, students take specialised courses in a wide range of disciplines.
The semester-based course syllabus enables us to have two graduation ceremonies a year (one in January and one in July) and arrange for students to have company work placements throughout the year.
The purpose of the work placements organised in the first part of the course (S3 technician level work placement and S6 assistant engineer work placement) is to familiarise the student with the industrial milieu, enable them to address a technical topic and receive educational support.
The Final Year Project puts the student in a professional situation by confronting them with the reality of an industrial project and providing them with the opportunity to prove their ability to work as an engineer.
ENIT, via our Production Engineering Laboratory (Ministry of Higher Education EA No. 1905), has been involved in R&D work in the fields of materials, mechanical engineering and industrial engineering.
With our high-level skills and advanced technology scientific equipment, ENIT has developed joint venture agreements with industry for over 30 years.
Technology transfer platforms (managed by ENIT or by joint-ventures) thus constitute focal points for providing concrete solutions to business issues (SMEs and large groups) by giving them access to technological methods and advanced scientific skills.
The Centre for Mechanical, Material and Surfaces Engineering (Centre d’Ingénierie en Mécanique, Matériaux et Surfaces - CIMMES), created in 2002, reflects ENIT"s wish to expand our research towards the industrial world, into the fields of mechanics, materials, processing and the analysis of surfaces.
The IDCE Resource and Skills Centre (CRC-IDCE), established in 2005, aims to transfer knowledge and technologies to companies by disseminating free software, promoting the technical achievements of research projects and doctoral theses, as well as supporting research projects.
Persuaded by large corporations, ENIT, the Adour Basin Union of Metal Industries and Professions [UIMM], and with the contribution of local small and medium-sized businesses [SMEs], METALLICADOUR was born out of a desire, shared by these various players, to provide the Adour Industrial Basin with a technology transfer centre devoted specifically to the metal industry (machining, assembly and process automation). The centre has been in operation since 2015.
