The Polytechnic Institute of Portalegre has a history over 35 years, always built in partnership with many individuals and entities. Schools that have been created or joining the support and research services, are translated into four schools (ESECS, ESTG, ESAE, ESS), Social Services (SAS) technology - based incubator (BioBIP), 5 cross units in addition to administrative services. The Polytechnic Institute of Portalegre (IPPortalegre) is a public institution of higher education. Has four schools the School of Education (ESECS), the School of Technology and Management (ESTG) and the School of Health (ESS), in Portalegre, and the Agrarian School of Elvas (ESAE). The IPP was legally created in 1980 but started functioning, with the appointment of the first installation commission president, only in 1989. The current ESECS (former School of Education) began its activities in 1985, in 1989 and ESTG ESAE in 1995. The current ESS (former School of Nursing) integrated IPP in 2001. In its four schools, IPP offers several undergraduate and master"s degrees as well as postgraduate and technological specialization courses.
The training offer IPP encompasses diverse areas of knowledge, according to the formative matrix of each of its schools. Education / training, social welfare, tourism, journalism / communication, management, engineering, information technology, design, marketing, agriculture, equinicultura, nursing and health technology are the key areas of know that support training, research and the intervention of the IPP and its schools.
The Polytechnic Institute of Portalegre has as one of its major concerns regional development, and a strong relationship with the surrounding community. On the other hand, is concerned with monitoring the employability of their students, creating conditions for their settlement in the region. Despite this strong regional commitment, the PPI does not neglect the exchange and national and international external relations.
In this sense, projects such as the Interdisciplinary Coordination for Research and Innovation (C3I), the Center for Languages and Cultures (CLIC), the Entrepreneurship Office, External Relations and Cooperation and the Office Europe Direct are strong bets and consolidated units intervention of the Polytechnic Institute of Portalegre.
The social concern has been the motto and bet IPPortalegre since its foundation. International cooperation has been a strategic goal of IPPortalegre, participating in programs Learning Lifelong / Erasmus since 1994/95. Until now, many students and alumni of IPPortalegre already benefited from the experience of studying or conducting internship abroad under that program, and many more from other countries have been welcomed in its four schools. Similarly, every year the IPPortalegre welcomes teachers of our international partners to develop teaching activities in the schools IPPortalegre, and sends some of their abroad. In addition, the IPPortalegre has participated in several other European projects as a partner and / or as a coordinator.
