Turku Academy is a Swedish-speaking multidisciplinary university that operates in two main centers, Turku and Vaasa. Turku University offers both undergraduate and graduate studies and extensive research opportunities to some 7000 students.

Åbo Akademi University’s activities are characterized by our responsibilities related to Swedish-speaking Finland and by our international atmosphere. We have altogether 5,500 undergraduate students in our campus towns of Turku and Vaasa. We also have 780 postgraduate students. Each year, we award around 500 Master’s degrees and 75 Doctor’s degrees.
Of our total of 1,100 employees, 650 work in teaching and research. Other jobs are related to, for example, the Centre for Lifelong Learning, the Library or the different university services.
Annual budget. Revenues for 2018 total 98.3 million euro, of which approx. 60% represent State funding and the remaining part is raised as external financing. In addition, returns on the funds donated to us are also used for our operations.
1,400 publications per year. The publishing of research results is essential for a university. Publishing constitutes the foundation for scientific dialogue and sustainable knowledge, but it also serves as a way of giving back to the society that provides financial support for science and research.
