As of 1 January 2018, Lahti University of Applied Sciences is part of the LUT Group. The new consortium is composed of three higher education institutions: Lahti and Saimaa Universities of Applied Sciences and Lappeenranta University of Technology, with LUT acting as the head organisation.
The aim is to develop a highly appealing and diverse higher education cluster of international stand...ing and high quality. The LUT Group"s strategy focuses on enhancing educational paths, internationalisation and economic impact. LAMK will contribute to the Group"s strategic aims through its activities in alignment with its own strategy.
The profile of LAMK is based on our focus areas and the concept of entrepreneurship. Internationalisation and digitalisation are ways for us to regenerate our competence capital, both in our organisation and in our local region as a whole. Lahti University of Applied Sciences (LAMK or Lahti UAS) is an international multidisciplinary higher education institution located in the city of Lahti, around 100 kilometers away from the capital city of Helsinki. Our fields of study include culture, business and hospitality, social and health care and technology.
We have currently around 5,000 students studying towards a Bachelor’s or a Master’s Degree. The number of employees is around 400.
LAMK was incorporated as a limited company on 1 January 2015. The governance and management system is based on the Polytechnic Act, the Limited Liability Companies Act and other legislations and agreements. As of 1 January 2018 LAMK is part of the LUT Group which is formed by three Finnish higher education instututions: Lahti and Saimaa Universities of Applied Sciences and Lappeenranta University of Technology LUT, with LUT acting as the head organisation.
The President acts as the Chief Executive Officer of LAMK Ltd. Other core bodies of the institution include the Board, the Examination Board, and the Executive Group.
The operational organisation of Lahti UAS consists of profit units which are based on faculties, and the supporting services. Each faculty is managed by a Dean. LAMK services provide support and expertise to the whole organisation and are responsible for strategy work, operational planning and quality, financial and HR management, higher education services, pedagogical development, library and information services, communications and marketing services, regional development services, campus development, RDI services and the coordination of external services.
At Lahti University of Applied Sciences quality management forms the foundations for the active development of our higher education institution. At our university quality-thinking is based on the principles of continuous development. With the help of a variety of joint quality procedures we steer our everyday operations and recognise our strenghts and weaknessess.
LAMK Quality Drivers form the basis for the active quality work and enhance the quality culture at our university. As a whole, at LAMK the quality work and the quality system itself are tightly connected to the strategic management and help us reach our strategic vision.
Lahti University of Applied Sciences was established in 1992 and quality work has been of importance from the very beginning. Nowadays it forms a vital part of all our operations – systematic quality assurance supports the development of our education and operations and enhances our competitiveness in Finland and abroad.
The quality system of Lahti University of Applied Sciences is based on the principles of the PDCA quality cycle (Plan - Do - Check - Act), which ensures that the operations are developed systematically with the support of four different phases. At LAMK all core duties, including education, RDI and regional development, as well as support services, have been designed a set of quality procedures which help to direct these functions and improve their quality.
